Hello, I need a new machine and am considering a new Lazer Z or the Bob-cat Predator pro with the 33HP Generac motor. Can anyone tell me or give me some advice as to which one is better. I'll take any information I can get. Thanks.

Bobcat gives you more machine and a very similar cut. Plus the bobcat is completly rebuildable!

Bobcat is a good mower but Exmark is hands down a better machine, better built and better cut. Also I would get a smaller engine the 27-28hp have plenty of power and use way less fuel plus they are cheaper.

I have a Toro 60", which I hear is the same as the Ex-mark, since toro owns Ex-mark and the machines are almost identical. I was about to go with an Ex-mark for another machine until I ran across the Predator Pro. I can get the Predator pro with the 33hp generac motor with 16cc pumps for 7500 flat including taxes. In order for me to get the Ex-mark I would have to pay 8300 plus tax. And I only get a 27hp kohler motor and 12cc pumps. I was wondering if it is worth the extra money for less power and a slower mower. Like I said I own a toro (same as Ex-mark) and am pretty happy with it but also hear that the bob-cat is a really good machine. Most reviews I've read say that the bob-cat gives a similar cut but I would like to hear from someone that actually owns a bob-cat PREDATOR PRO. Not the Fast-cat or Fast-car RZ.

Personally go with the bobcat. IMO bobcat is better built certainly a faster machine. And with the 72" bobcat you get a tunnell ram mower deck! Bobcat is rebuildable totally on the frame the exmark is not. Bigger pumps and just a good cut. The cut around here is very comparable between exmark and bobcat.

A Procat would be more comparable to the exmark.

Also there seems to be a large price diffrence in bobcats. I have been told because some are older stock units. but if they are new who really cares.

Just out of curiosity, what is the tunnel ram mower deck?? Is that a kind of deck that can handle taller grass? Kind of similar to ex-mark's Triton deck?? I have a landscape business and I maintain lawns where I mow them every week so I don't let the grass get very high. If the tunnel ram mower deck is anything like the exmark's triton deck, then I wouldn't want it because the quality of cut isn't as good as with the ultra cut deck. In other word's is the tunnel ram mower deck deeper than the standard deck that you get with the 61"? Thanks

No the triton an ultracut use a flatdeck. The 72" bobcat is a tunnell ram. Which is the front 6-8" of the deck is raised or deeper than the back half of the deck. This allows it to take tall wet grass at a higher rate. The draw back is mulching but who really mulches with a72" mower.

Does the grass tend to clump up more with the 72" than the 61"?? For instance when mowing in the morning when the grass is dewy. I know most mowers will spit out clumps when the grass is damp or wet except the scag with the velocity deck. I tried one before and the discharge on the scag is amazing. No matter what kind of grass it NEVER spit out clumps. Always left a beautiful cut the first time. Is the bob-cat anything like this??

The laser will never let u down, i seriosly doubt the bobcat can keep up... Heres what u will look at when done......

Nice, EARTH5, does anyone using a bob-cat have a picture of some lines they laid down?

He only has the ones with the 25hp motor...too punny, 27hp is the lowest I'll go for a 60" especially with the hills I deal with

A 61" bobcat and a 60" exmark cut is virtually the same. The decks are built almost identical. The 72" bobcat will out produce the exmark deck in open mowing because of the tunnell ram design.

again the procat is more comparable to the std. lazer than the predator pro is.

I understand that, but I can buy a predator pro for 7500 OTD with the 33hp generac motor and 16cc pumps. If I understand correctly the predator pro is better than the procat because if offers more power and a faster ground speed, right?? And I assume the decks are exactly the same between predator and procat, which means there is no difference in cut quality, right?? Thanks look forward to hear from you

The whole machine is the same except the pumps and engine size. The original predator is now the pro cat.

Does the predator you are looking at have the adj. front baffle on the mower deck? Probably not at that price but even if it does not that is a great buy and a very good machine.

The place I am buying it is about 2 hours away from me. I found it on ebay. When I called the dealership, they said they would deliver it for free to my house and I wont have to pay sales tax. If I came and picked it up myself, they would have to charge me sales tax. So it's a win win for me. When I talked to him I THINK he mentioned the deck did have the baffle, but I can't say for certain. Not a deal breaker for me, I'd probably keep it fully open all the time.

the bobcat preadtor is one of the best mowers on the market the large 33 generac engine is better on fuel than a kawasaki engine the 16 cc pumps top the mower out at 13.5 mph. the bobcat also give you a LIFETIME warranty on the deck ,deck cradle and engine cradle along with there dual choice of a full coverage 2 year 2000 hour or a 5 year 500 hour warranty. who else on the market offers that. the bobcat is better all the way around and the price is great $7500 how can you beat that? did you end up buying one? does me have anymore? telphone #?

That might be the machine I ran across on ebay and put a link up for a few days ago.

I'm thinking of buying a 60 or 61 inch machine. Wish I'd but an overhead garage door on my storage building instead of double doors :(

Yes, I just got my mower delivered to me this past monday. No regrets. And yes he still has more this is the link. I noticed he has raised his price to 7,595. Only 100 bucks still worth it. That price is the OTD price. No tax and FREE shipping. Definetly worth it. here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-BOB-CAT-ZTR-MOWER-942241-PREDATOR-PRO-61-CUT-33-HP_W0QQitemZ280416534383QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item414a20bf6f

I'm just not sure why the top speed is higher with the Generac engine...13.5 as opposed to 12mph. It's kind of unusual for a manufacturer to have different speeds for the same mower with just a different engine. Just wish I didn't put a 62.5 inch door on my storage shed at this point..gonna be a tight squeeze...I suppose the doorway will widen with time, lol.

Bridgeport is close enough to me...hate it there but it's not too far, lol. I used to live right near there in Stratford. I'm actually the one who listed a link to that mower on another thread maybe a week ago. His pricing is pretty good. I have a dealer next town over that would be kinda p'd but at least they'd get the parts sales out of it. I know there's no way they'd meet that pricing...that's why I have a red mower now, lucky I can get anything off list price locally.

yeah im surprised this guy can still make a profit at his prices. The dealer near me gave me a price of 8900 plus 7% sales tax. That would come out over 9500. And that was the best price I have found around here. everyone else is selling these machines between 9500-10000 plus tax!! As far as I see it, I saved over 2000!
