View Full Version : What are your thoughts on this mower???

I am real close to buying this mower: It' a 2000-2002 48" Encore w/ grass collection system... ($1500) it has a 19hp Kawasaki engine, and has 1200 hrs on it. I did a little research on Encore because I've never heard of them, new they are around four grand, they are commercial and they can't keep up with the grass, so you have to go slower - which is better than using a walk behind and a small catcher in my eyes... What do you guys think???

they can't keep up with the grass, so you have to go slower

That would have made up my mind for me. If I bought this mower, I would kick myself every time I used it.

I agree with JakeLewis.

There is nothing wrong with a walk-behind as a first mower.

This is my 1000th post.

Thanks guys, my gut feeling has been telling me to pass on this the entire time. I think I'd rather get a decent used walk behind than a tiered old sit down.

I've been looking at a 48" Ferris hydro walk behind with the catcher. Any thoughts on these mowers???

My experience with Ferris is they like a day off, kinda like the movie. I personally would not purchase

The company I work for has a 48" encore...if I had to guess it is an 07. It runs strong but cuts horribly. I only use on large pasture type grass/weeds or fescue. If you are cutting bermuda the turf must be extremely level or it scalps. I might take one if it was free, but I would never buy one.

Thanks guys! I'm definitely not going to go for the Encore! I've got nothing but negative feed back on these mowers. I'm close to a deal on a Bobcat 48" w/ catcher and velke. The grass collection on the Encore kinda sucked me into thinking about it. I'm more familiar with Bobcat walk behinds, I just hate bagging.
Thanks again for your input fellas

I bought this same mower for $800 a few weeks ago. I wouldn't suggest buying it for that kind of money.
