Did you notice that all of the fertilizers (except starter) are zero phosphorous, the fertilizer manufacturers are keeping the prices high and not including one of the most expensive ingredients

Hard to judge prices from one JDL to another. It seems like it matters who you know there.

TL - your prices seem high from what was mentioned to me by a JDL rep at the MN Green Expo a few weeks back.

I can't be the judge of any of the pesticide containing ferts, but the straight urea seems awefully high to me.

The 30-0-8 isn't too bad. I think I can get mine at about $15... by the truck load right now.

Those prices are with in a few cents per bag of what I was quoted at JDL/Lesco for the same products.

Prices change from area to area depending on which association (s) your company belongs to if they are in any at all. I know here in NJ my association gets really good pricing compared to companies not in the association.

TL1981, you have the same concerns we have, but we never post prices & the company involved at the same time. This helps protect both parties. Not bitching at you -- just my personal advice.

We love our local JDL -- especially two very trusted friends who are my "original" LESCO buds -- didn't buy from them for our "round one" (feelin' guilty), but expect to buy from them very soon. These guys are as good as it gets IMO. Hope your local JDL guys are as good as ours are.

As far as a lack of P --- some states ban it unless it involves seeding. Soil tests in most Midwest states say it's not even needed. We sent in over 200 soil samples a few years' back, and NONE revealed a lack of P. Mostly a lack of N, and some lacked micronutrients.

Glad that rcreech sent you a PM. He knows his stuff, and he's in your State.

Bottom line, if you buy from JDL -- you can expect high quality products. :usflag::canadaflag: IMHO

yeah, sad thing is some of those prices are similar to mine, but not all. i know we got 46-0-0 for last year at about 12-13 bucks per bag. i remember when it was only like 8 bucks. wouldnt that be nice with your current price structure!

This is why I love this site. I'm an applicator down in NE Kansas, and you answered a lot of the mystery surrounding some of my findings about what is offered between the different products I have been shopping around for. Thanks for the insight and I hope you don't mind if I shoot you a question before making my final purchase.

We had a bad experiance with our local JDL last year. They had there 19-0-6 for 16.50 a bag, they said if we order early(in january)we would get it for 13.00 a bag,so we went ahead with our order. When the delivery came there was a 1200.00 delivery charge on the invoice(40 miles drive to deliver). We have since been working with a local company who's sales person used to work at JDL and the fert we get from there is the same fert as JDL just a differant bag for 12.00 a bag and 50.00 to deliver.

I encourage you guys to shop around. I'm paying 60% of the price I was paying last year, for a top quailty product. My prices per bag average $15.50 per 50lb bag.

$1200 to deliver? Are you kidding? I hope you got a kiss for that kind of coin.

I would not have accepted the order if that were the case. They should have told you up front that there was going to be a charge to deliver it.

Man I hope you are wrong on that, because that would truly SUCK.

They tried the $1200 delivery fee on me last year. Didn't appear on my quote or anything until I got my invoice emailed to me the next day. I called and complained and got it removed. Made sure this year that the delivery was free.

I dont think these prices are that bad if your ordering small amounts not 60 tons. a little higher than the lowest price than i got. from what i have seen XCU gets the best price. another thing with lesco/JDL there quotas and pick up price are not the same they must not have a way to know what they priced you the first time. May be it's differnt if they know you not just a number

Great thread. I really need to get my ass in gear for selecting and ordering fert. I want something with good micro nutrients and a dash of iron.

Any suggestions would be helpful.
