This is not a joke. Need potential subcontractor in this area for this job. Private message me if you can hang.
JOBSITE:
-Abandoned hospital building in Nashville, TN.
CONDITIONS:
-Transient population on grounds.
-3 ft tall grass covering approx. 6 acres and growing through sidewalk and parking lot cracks.
-God knows what's under the grass. Hasn't been mowed in 1 year.
SPECIFICATIONS:
-Cut all grasses to a "reasonable" height for security purposes.
-Treat all fence lines with herbicide. ( approx. 1500 linear ft )
-Trash to be removed by Metro before mowing, but they won't be able to get what they can't see.
-No debris needs to be bagged or hauled away.
*** This is a one time deal. I have been as honest as I can in regards to the conditions on this site. It's nasty, but if anyone would like to bid, the job is roughly estimated at several thousand dollars.***
Any input from those unwilling is welcome as always.
Thank You, Landscraper.

Wish I was in Tn. area.
Bush hogs work well for transients and unseen objects.

Hey Landscraper, I'm in the Nashville area and would be interested in the bid. This is my first reply, so you may want to send me a message to discuss the bid. I have the equipment to handle the job & I think I know which property you are talking about.

I will not be working this job with you if you do it. We have a solid relationship with Metro who asked us to bid the job. We don't really have the equipment to do it, and quite frankly, don't care to.
We want to help them because they are a great customer, therefore we looking for Co.s to give us an estimate so we can sub it out. If you want more specific info, send me a PM.
although i aint in tennesse. if the money is right i will travel there to get it just a drive for me. for a couple thousand dollars, i can make it worth my trip

Thanks to those who have responded. I should add that we are willing to divide workload insome cases. For instance you cut, we spray. Looking at a deadline of June 4th for all interest parties to inspect jobsite. Work to be performed in the next 30 days as an estimate. Sorry short notice. You all know how these things go.

You guys are great. Thanks again for your interest. I've recieved several PM's and 2 or 3 of you sound quite serious. I will be calling all of you who left your phone # for me on Sat around dinner time to answer questions and schedule you to get a looksie; Monday if possible. We may all meet at the same time and put the faces with the names if you want. I'll be in touch.

With that many "pests" I think that I would carry a piece with me. A 45 would feel real comforting in the back pocket.
Ya never know when you would need to put a rabbit out of its misery. :D

Better yet a small nuke!
Is this the old Metro General hospital complex on the banks of the Cumberland?

Sounds like a fairly straighfoward job. 2 people 1 day with brush cutters and 1 day with 5' bush hog. 450 metres of fenceline should take about 1 man hour after its been cut.
Without seeing the job I would estimate about $900-$1000 AUD.
Now all I have to do is work out the travel costs for Australia
to Tennesee return and I'll be right over. :D

Yes, that's the one.

It's funny, I thought the same thing as you 'til I saw the job.

Well, I hate when post like this have no follow-up, so here goes.
Not only did very very few people take interest in looking at the job, but the ones who did, REALY REALLY didn't want to bid on it. What can I say, I tried to warn you all !
A big thank you goes to the few of you that I was able to meet. I enjoyed B.S.ing with you guys if nothing else, and hope to see ya in Louisville in July.
We told Metro that we contacted several contractors ( even out of state )and that no one really has the necessary equipment for the job, and probably wouldn't do it if they did because of the conditions. They understand and will try to get public works or prison workers to do it. We are giving them a price for treating road frontage, parking areas, and visible fencelines with herbicide and then waiting for a chance to maintain the turf once it's wacked by the inmates.
Thanks agian to all. With out you guys I wouldn't be able to tell them that I tried everything I could to help them.

I'm kinda far from you, but here you can rent a flail mower and tractor for around $200 a day. One guy with the tractor, one doing the fence line, a 8 hour day should cover it.
The flail mower will take care of anything and everything including refrigerators tires etc.

LOL!!!
thelawnguy sez:

But what would it do to the 'transient population' hiding in them weeds?
...but then again, 20 grand IS 20 grand! ;)

$ 20,000 is about what it would take to get any of us to do it. I'll repeat for those who think that a rented hog or flail mower and a couple of guys will do it in a day.......I thought the same 'til I actually looked at the job.
Also, if we gave them some astronomical price, it would cause them to seek counsel from other Co.s in the area ( basically put it up for bid allowing others to get a foot in the door on the good relationship that worked so hard to build. )
Truly a strange situation, but I think Barkleymut has it priced the closest so far.

If I was close to you I'd do it for $2000. In and out within a day. Six acres is six acres. Not exactly rocket science. Probably be able to go over the heavy areas twice just to make a good appearance.
As for the hobos, they will move when they hear the machince coming. If not, their shredded remains will sufficiently decay in the TN heat and/or be scattered by animals before anyone notices them missing. They would be the least of my worries.
