got enough snow to do 2 accounts this morning, dad left me home otherwise there would be more pics:realmad:

anyway, this is after around 2 hours of plowing asphalt. there's still plenty of ff on that plow:weightlifter: i tried wiping the body down with the same rag i rubbed all the ff in with the other day. there's a lot of crap stuck to the body (salt residue and junk) but it wiped off very easily. i have no doubt the coating of ff is going to make washing the truck a lot easier once we get the chance to do so:cool2::cool2:

Tell me about the big shows in PA. What are their numbers like? Are they pulling in at least 3,000 attendees? Well, I remember the one year you did a MAHTS show when they were going. How about PANTS? it's in Pennsylvanian again this year, there are a good number of people that attend, but I'm not sure on the exact number. PANTS is in August, you should look into it.

Like I said you could have drawn a great crowd at NJNLA, they had everything from plants to excavators and skids.

Come on Dan, show your Jersey guys some respect and visit.

Dano50
02-03-2010, 07:28 PM
I did look into the NJNLA show, and it would be a good show for us. The attendance is small for the costs involved for us to go all the way out there, though.

We did PANTS for a few years but it really didn't pay off. We stopped doing it last year. Heck, PANTS was in Jersey two years ago. We were there!

Uh oh, here comes the grief...

Tell me about the big shows in PA. What are their numbers like? Are they pulling in at least 3,000 attendees?

I don't know much about the PA shows but NJLCA has to have at least 3000 attendees. That place was packed all day! I would say the NJLCA show is at least 4 times the size of the NJNLA show.

:laugh::laugh:OK, OK, OK, I'm sorry I defiantly like the pics, you do a top notch job on posting pics.

2nd of all I've had the pleasure of meeting Dan at PANTS a few years ago when the show was in Atlantic City. I'd like to meet Joy, as well as you, I've yet to meet Bill though.

Bill, I was indeed at NJNLA, I was walking around with Kirk (Dreams to Designs) and his nephew, I was wearing my Fluid Film hat so I don't know how you missed me lol. At one point Kirk was talking (nothing new lol) and his nephew and I were checking out the Toro display among other things while Kirk talked

it's been just about 6 months since i undercoated the ford with ff. i figured it would be nice to post a "picture udate" i'm very impressed with how well the ff held up on the frame etc. naturally the front part of the frame right behind the plow took the most abuse and, the spare tire mount still looks rough but keep in mind the tire had never been taken down by the original owner so all that sand/salt etc got up there, stayed and ate away at the metal. here's a reminder of what the frame looked like b4 ff, right after i coated it then the new attached pics are from today. i hope they show that ff is not to be messed with and loves to hanga round a long long time:weightlifter::weightlifter:

here's a reminder of what the spare tire mount/rim looked like. like i said it still looks rough but that's almost 100,000 miles/6 years of neglect. i need to schedule an appointment to get the truck in and give everything a re-coat. i wiped the rim down with a paper towel to try and show that the ff is still hanging strong:weightlifter: there's also 3 pics of the underside of the hood. the camera doesn't pic it up too well but the ff never dried out! the last pic shows where i wiped with a paper towel and you can see it's still wet around that area:cool2:

last monday i took advantage of the night off and gorgeous weather to start work on the underneath of the ford. my plan was to get it all preped for paint. little did i know what a job it was going to be because it was very difficult to remove the fluid film. i was torn because i was having a hard time removing it:realmad:but i was pleased because it's not sposed to be removed easy:weightlifter: was kinda confusing:dizzy::laugh:

that disc is loaded with a combination of ff/dirt/rust etc. everything all mixed together

http://www.lawnsite.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=195149&stc=1&d=1280233765
the dry grey of the primer i think helps bring out how soaked the cab rails/floor still is with ff
http://www.lawnsite.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=195150&stc=1&d=1280233920
that streak is where i didn't get the ff completely removed thus the primer wiped right off

i just put one coat from a spray can on there. i wanna see how it holds up and get the rest of the frame plus whatever part of the cab rails i can clean up done first then everything will get sprayed with a gun then fluid filmed but considering i don't have access to a lift or sandblaster i'm happy with the way it's coming out and i hope these pics help prove how well fluid film lasts:cool2::cool2:

the following pics i feel prove that fluid film stops rust. judge for yourselve's

pic 1- a reminder of the 2 rust spots on that new plow i sprayed back in march

http://www.lawnsite.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=195689&stc=1&d=1280765990

pic 2- those same spots a lil over 4 months later after being cleaned up with a waffle style disc

http://www.lawnsite.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=195690&stc=1&d=1280766039

pic 3- 3 spots that i did not spray ff on and wish i had. just look at the amount of rust still there after hitting them with both a waffle and 24 grit grinding discs

http://www.lawnsite.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=195691&stc=1&d=1280766071

now i ask you, does fluid film penetrate deep down into the metal to stop rust or not?

i used a different paint than i always have in the past. instead of rustoleum i used that valspar that tractor supply company sells. i can't wait to see how it holds up to the abuse it's gonna see. i still have to paint the springs/spring brackets, get it put back together then the whole thing will get a nice coat of ff:cool2:

SKYNYRD
08-08-2010, 07:59 PM
got the springs and spring brackets painted yesterday then, got it put back together today. the installation process required a lot of fluid filming:weightlifter::weightlifter:

first i sprayed/wiped down the area behind where the springs sit since there's no way i could easily do it after they were back on

http://www.lawnsite.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=196279&stc=1&d=1281305584

http://www.lawnsite.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=196280&stc=1&d=1281305625

next i sprayed the inside of the springs and the sides that face the backside of the plow

http://www.lawnsite.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=196281&stc=1&d=1281305658

sprayed down the inside and outside of the sprong bracket. the adjustment rod that the bracket slides over was also sprayed liberally but those pictures didn't come out good :(

http://www.lawnsite.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=196282&stc=1&d=1281305722

http://www.lawnsite.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=196283&stc=1&d=1281305761

soaked all the bolts/washers/nuts

http://www.lawnsite.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=196283&stc=1&d=1281305761

once everything was tightened/adjusted i sprayed the rest of the blade down then wiped it in

http://www.lawnsite.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=196286&stc=1&d=1281306096

http://www.lawnsite.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=196287&stc=1&d=1281306149

no ff in these pics but i felt compelled to share. i made the center section of the headache rack removable so it wouldn't obstruct vision while plowing etc but can also be put back in place if it's ever needed to actually protect the window:cool2:

fluid film is awesome on drill bits! used quite a bit drilling holes in the diamond for the new deflectore we put on it :weightlifter:

brushed a nice coat on the top of the plow to protect the top of the blade and underside of the deflector:weightlifter: then brushed a coat where the washers were gonna sit:weighlifter: then sprayed the whole thing once it was bolted together and rubbed it in:weightlifter:

been a minute since i updated this thread. put some new lights on the rig yesterday, chrome housed fog lights that needed a real good fluid filming if they're going to survive the rest of the winter rust free. i did the inside, outside, under the lip, the screw holes/screws, everything:usflag:
