View Full Version : Bulk Mulch

Getting ready to get a semi load of mulch (from a mill) hauled out to the shop. How much are yall paying for your bulch mulch? Or are yall buying it from a retailer, not a wholesale provider? Thanks for the help.
I get hardwood mulch for about $26/yd in smaller quantities. Larger orders get a bigger discount (more like $20-$22 when 10-20 yds). . . That is also for the really nice, dark, even-spreading mulch. The rougher stuff is always cheaper.

I was getting light pine bark for 35/yd and red mulch for 48/yd from retail. Just found a wholesale yard that has pine bark for 27 and red mulch for 37.

I paid $17 a yard today from my local supply yard. Not bulk either, this was for 6 yds.

I paid around 23 a yard for color enhanced, dark hardwood mulch. By far the highest quality stuff I have ever seen, and that price was for a 80 yard semi load.

I am lucky to have a mulch wholesaler (Boiling Forest ) roughly 2 miles down the road from my house. Buying in a non bulk way (usually two or three yards at a time) I get the mulch depending or type from between $20 a cubic yard to $26

I pay 14 dollars a yard for premium hardwood brown. I pay 20 dollars a yard for red and black.

We pay $15-$16 a yard for double processed bulk. I'm looking into getting triple processed this year depending on the price difference. Where in KY are ya? It's a bit early for mulch aint it? I'm still hopin for some snow!

West Ky - not much snow ever here. I'm just looking at some prices - getting ready for spring.

Up here in Michigan, we get 150 yds. of premium hardwood delivered to our shop a few times a year and it's $18.25 a yd. We then turn around and sell it for $36.00 a yard. Big mark-up, that's why it's good to get things in bulk if you can.

we get ours wholesale, but we buy bags instead. get two semi loads of palletts per spring. it is easier to haul and easier to spread for us. it is more costly per yd, but we can save labor with our methods of laying it down. thus, it is not really higher than if someone came and bid the same job with bulk mulch and wheelbarrows and pitchforks.
it is double ground color enhanced(red or black or brown, we take early orders) and it still only costs us about 26 per yd.

Paying $20 yrd for dyed brown hardwood. I used to use a different supplier who was at $24 and then went up to $26. It pays to shop around.
