The blade bolts must be long enough to go through both blades.

Most mowers it should fit.

You will have to experament to get it to work right on your mowers.

Sorry for all the questions, but basically it is not a special blade, ie. a notch to keep them from spinning out of whack?? They are just 2 blades, one on top of the other. It seems like the tension of the spindle nut wont be enough to keep the blades in a perfect cross, but maybe it does.

If you tighten the bolts down good enough to keep one blade from 'spinning loose' it will do the same for 2 blades. :)

It is important to balance the blades properly though...and have a long enough bolt to make up for the thickness of the 2nd (added) blade.

Just give the bolt a little extra 'oomph!' when you tighten them on a 'doubles' setup. The only time I have had them leave a "cross (+)" position is after they have had an inadvertant meeting with an immovable object. :blush:

I would have to say that it depends on the quality of the mower itself. Some commercial units have seen thousands of hours of 'doubles' use (EricELM's Dixie Choppers for example)...but I can't say what it would do to a Craftsman with a 10 hp Briggs & Stratton. :D
