Please help with a diagnosis:

I left home on Saturday morning and came home Sunday morning to find this on my front lawn.

It is roughly 18 inches in diameter and nearly symmetrical.
The leaves are uniformly browned halfway down from the tips, which are curled.

If I were to mow this the dead would be cut off and green would remain.

If this were 1/3 the size and burnt to the soil I'd say it was dog urine but it is not that as I have firsthand experience with that in my back yard.
There were no toys left on the lawn.

The weather has been high 80's-low 90's with evening thunder showers.
This is a fescue lawn.

Looks like a spill of some kind. Is the burnt part dry like there's no moisture in it? It also looks like a hot air burn from an exhaust pipe.

I see them all the time. And think man that is weird. It is usually gone the next week.
