Hello again guys. I've been thinking about looking for an old B&S engine, 1930-1960, and doing a complete restoration on it. Now, I need to know from you mechanics out there what I should do when I get a hold of one. What are the procedjures in restoring 'em?? Thanks!!!!!!!!!:)

Most will be cast iron. Most will be rusted tight. Mostly you'll have a hard time finding parts. Best to find one working. Sometimes you can find rings that are similar and file them down until they fit. Why do you want to restore an old engine? There's nothing wrong with it but it's a lot of time and headache. Have you rebuilt any of those engines that you've asked questions about?

I've done an overhaul on the 7HP vert. shaft B&S on our riding mower, and I really liked doing it. I know lots of people that I could probably get engines from cheap. There's just two reasons I want to do this: 1. I like to work on engines, and 2. , It gives me something to do fur the summer so I won't get bored.:) I'm trying to look for a WI or a N model, or a small 1950's-60's 2HP.

I've recently found MANY!! old B&S motors that either run or turn over with good compression. I can either get 'em for free or around 10-20 bucks. Is this a good find?:) :blob3:
