The tip does look weird, but I don't like fords dual tip either. Just put a regular 5" polished tip stock and it will solve all the problems!!

No but id gladly take Fords tips over the GM's. But neither of them are good. fords new one is suppose to look better.

Good looking truck! I dont like the wheels, but I am sure a set of tires that fit them would change the look of it..

Im sure the new models are awesome. Im also sure they are big,big bucks! I worked my dealer for over a year and finally got my duramax/allison 3500 for 34k!That included ac/stereo,cd,xm,onstar,plow prep, cloth interior, etc. That would be damn near impossible now?

It currently runs $10K here in Canada for the GM HD trucks. It's disgusting. At least diesel fuel is 10% less than regular gas - most days.

Can you get a single axle crew cab short box tonner? I see many fords that are that Way. With all the new emmssions stuff is the diesel worth the money. Also why not option a gas with the Allison. Ithunk I would like to trade for a new one but gas or diesel is the argument.

Yes the 2011 HD's can come in a 3500 SRW crew cab short bed

i am very impressed with the new offering from GM now. i especially like that they paid attention to the front end and upped it to match fords 6k rating. now you can "legally" put a plow on a crew cab diesel!

it seems that the truck offerings from the big three are on a much more even playing field, each has exhaust brakes, i know ford and chevy now offer the trailer sway control, and hill start assist, and ford has the hill descent control as well.

looks like ill be looking at both ford and gms come truck buying time this year!

I just don't care for all the emision crap thats on new diesels today. And shi**y fuel consumption. Hell my 6.4 dump loaded down pulling my 16ft enclosed with lawn mowers gets only 8mpg on flat ground.

Took a trip in a friends older mid 90's diesel, got 13mpg all day long pulling a 24k goose in the hills, driving like a jacka$$ too.

Sounds pretty good to me but I agree with SFL about all the emisson equipment on the newer diesels.

It looks nice; now I'm glad that the Chevy dealer near me sells vehicles for less than the other brands' dealers.

Yah, looks nice but my 03 Silverado 2500HD is still a baby..only 35k miles on it. I can't justify buying a new truck.

I hope the ride quality is still good. Love the ride of mine for something that will tow 10k pounds. Did they ever fix the intermediate steering column problem?

Did the 2500's have that problem too? Mine has been replaced 3 times on my 1500. Dealer says there covering them to 70k regardless of age. Mines an 03 as well.

Yes they did. Mine was replaced once and is starting to rap again at only 35K miles. I read somewhere that people were doing a temporary fix by injecting a high viscosity grease. My cousin has a 1500 and just had to have his done again. He told me it was around $200. I hadn't heard that they were covering to 70K. The only other problem I've had with mine was the ABS brakes engaging at low speeds...dealer took care of it because there was a bulletin out on it...corrosion problem I believe. It's been a good truck!

My '05 HD 6.0 has the steering problem too. Been an awesome truck besides that, but dealers say they will fix it for life of the truck. Mine has 20K miles. (for sale probably too)

And I agree also about the new emissions. I was almost ready to pull the trigger on an '09 GMC 2500 diesel until I read about the poor mileage. Screw that, I get poor mileage now. So I'm looking for an '03-'07 old body style, LLY or LBZ, low miles, silver.

Well once the factory warranty is up on any of the newer diesels you can strip the emissions junk off which is just the exhaust and get a new program on the computer and it will be good for 20mpg. but for any states that you have to get emissions testing you will have to know someone who does illegal ones.. but obviously depending on how you drive sometimes I can get 18mpg and other times 12mpg.

I don't know what they boxed on the frame but a boxed frame usually isn't repairable it is also a rust magnet so anybody in the rust belt will have problem with frame rust.

Wouldn't the underbody coating solve that?, even though i would just have the underbody line-x'd or rhino lined

Wasn't that a thought the first time GM came out with the c channel hydro formed frame?? Now that toyota, dodge and ford, heck maybe even nissan have boxed GM follows suit?? I don't know much about gauge of steel, boxed vs C channel frame but to what extent can a pickup 1/2 or 3/4 ton model withstand.

My duramax has 365 hp, 660 # of toruqe and a 6 speed allison. It does everything i expect it to do and then some, it is however a pickup! When i need to do heavy duty hauling i use my medium duty dumptruck! It seems like some people expect too much from these rigs, they are after all, only pickups?

Depending on trim level, they're actually glorified cars with extra capability.

It's true though, most 'HD' work 'pick-ups' are considered to be overloaded on a regular basis.

It is pretty hard to stop water getting into places and rusting it out. The thing that stops rust is grease or oil.

If Chev is using a hydroformed frame its a cheap POS.

I like every about it except the way it looks. The epa killed diesels. Now its a pain to upgrade them. I hate the exhaust pipe on the Chevy's. I which they sat lower.

Regardless, I am still a Chevy man.I own a couple D-Max's and am very pleased with them.

Now my gm dealer who is lossing his dealership said he won't see a thing until the fall - that is if you has his dealership that long. He said he still has a few 2010's that are ordered and not expected to show up till End of march early april. But maybe that is ther reason he is lossing his dealership - never knows nothing??!
