If you could, what one thing would you change or improve on your mower if you were the one designing the mower??? For me, it would be the cover on top of the deck on my Toro WB. Seems like grass is constantly getting underneath the cover. There has to be a better way.

I have 3 Exmarks- I would change nothing.
While I dont have 3 of them, the one that I do have is about as perfect as they come!
On edit.....
Move the PTO engagement switch on the Lazer so that my "manly" calves don't accidentally switch the blades off at FULL rpm's!!!

Something to "cover" the throttle control on my Viper ZTR. Everytime I go around a shrub, citrus tree, any branches that are low will kick the throttle back down to idle speed.
Too many safety switches! (I know,OSHA says we have to have em'.)

The placement of the height adjustment bolts on my exmark. Other than that, I love my metro.

I would make it a Z so that I would be sitting instead of standing.

I know exactly what you mean, my 52" Pro Line was the same way......Had to clean it everyday.
I got an Exmark now....so for the record,
I can't think of anything I would change.

I would change the foot platform on my Toro z-master. It lifts up to gain access to the belts/center spindle grease zerk, but it lifts the wrong way! It wont even go all the way back because the hieght adjust foot pedal is in the way. Expecialy when the mower is on the z-stand (this is the jack on the front of this mower). The dang thing keeps crackin me on the head. At the least I would install one of those gas shocks to hold it up. Other than that its a pretty great mower.

Ialso have a exmark walkbehind, and a lazer. They are great machines.
There is one thing that bothers me. It is the discharge chute. They are put on there for saftey, and you get a krappy cut if you use them with the chute down. So then you are putting yourself at risk for libiality. They should be designed to do a better job of dispersing the grass. I know tere are 200 and something dollar ocdc's, but the chutes should do a better job.:(

one thing that I have just changed is a suspension seat, I'll never have one without one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The next thing will be an ocdc.
That is it for my Great Dane.

I would design a contraption for self-sharpening of the blades and, self- cleaning for the deck.
new paint job and decals, and new tires all around. mabe hydro s smooth as the hustler.
gosh ,dont tell her i said that ,me an her got a thing going.. besides they may be a dn side to that smooth pretty little yellow thing and im use to these hydros anyway..guess its just the ole evil triangle.:D

The thing I would change on the Lazer, would be the deck leveling adjustment setup. I think 4 individual vertical turnbuckles would do better, and would be much easier to work with.

Cab with air/heat and radio.
One of my mowers is a SCAG 51" (or 52) Hrdro WB with a 16 Briggs.....The exhaust blows right back in your face....poor design.

I'd want a better bagging system for my WB...
Why is it, that the commercial WB's all seem to think a big box on the discharge chute is the only way to bag? What a PITA!
I wish someone would design something better! Come fall cleanups, I'm either going to be doing a lot of mowing with the 21's, or I'll have to look into renting a Walker GHS.
Finally got used to that ECS :) I'm starting to love it! Found I can do even more work with the 36" than I originally thought! Gotta go quote a few properties today (rain day!)!

A bigger ghs deck for my walker. 48'' is just not big enough for me.

Install an X.M. stereo system on my 48" connected to OSHA compliant earplugs with headphones in them.

Actually I did think of one thing, well, except for a supension seat.;)
Some type of breathers on the gas caps, so gas doesn't get on the sides of the tanks. A lot of 4 wheelers have a tube or something for this.
Probably wouldn't be hard to rig something up ....

Stainless steel deck, highly polished on inside to reduce grass accumulation.

the darn grasscatcher on my 721d grasshopper.... seems like I bang it everytime I try to turn around... no matter how careful I am.
Flex-Deck

First thing i would do is add a flex-deck - why not make your mower efficient? You are in the business to make money right?

For my Turf Tiger i would redesign the deck so the thing lays beautiful looking stripe on every type of grass.
For the Scag WB i would want the muffler to be put on the left side of the engine so i could drive underneith trees and around things easier than having the muffler burn pine needles while driving around evergreen trees.
YOu cant overlook The Tim Allen Rule :D "More Power, argh argh argh" :p

I'd like to have an electric deck lift on my Choppers like the Steiner zero turn has. I may tackle that project this winter, it doesn't look like it would be too difficult............Lynn

I would change deck design on my scag turf tiger. I have the advantage deck and it stripes poorly. Even added chain kit, didn't help much. I should have got a lazer. But the dealer that carries them is not worth dealing with.

I think all Z's need to work on the ride - maybe Ferris is on the right track; with semi-rough properties you cannot utilize the speed capacity of the machines.

yeah flex deck you are here to sell your product. i would much rather have other things before a flex deck:)

You are not alone, TLS - I'm not knocking anyone's product, but I think responses should be related to the post.

I agree that flex-deck over does it (unrelated posts). If someone wants to hear about the flex deck all they have to do is go to your forum. I am all for you supporting your product but it would be more professional if it was you responding to a question about the flex-deck instead of you bringing it up all the time.

How about a silent eletric engine? No need for ear plugs, neighbors dont complane. heck you could be working at 3am & no one would care.

It must be raining there, too! Got an old golf cart? Put a finishing deck on it, run by an electric motor off the cart juice - you're in business!
