Our Super Z Serno # 926972 has a bad habit of smoking the diode in the clutch pigtail harness. Per the parts manual we ordered Warner clutch PN 787366 but actually received a clutch kit containing Pn's 601311 clutch & Pn 366765 revised clutch anchor. It looks like it has an improved brake? If so, is this intended to reduce/eliminate feed back to the pigtail harness?

The new clutch is just a newer version of what you have as its been updated from Warner, I am not aware of a heavier brake, but it could be.
Clutch part number 787366 has been discontinued as a single service part. 787366 has been revised as a kit which includes a new 601311 clutch, and a 366765 revised clutch anchor.
If you use an old style clutch anchor, the leg that holds the clutch from turning will interfere with the new clutch (601311) and cause a preload on the bearings, thus resulting in a premature failure of the clutch.
Once the revised clutch anchor 366765 has been installed, future clutch replacement will only need the 601311 clutch.

The new clutch and anchor system has about eliminated problems with the pig tail harness that has that diode in it.
