View Full Version : Laying sod

Can anyone give me an estimate on how long it would take to lay a 1000 sq ft of sod. Site is prepared. The rolls are sod strips off a pallet. For simplification assume the area is square.

Hello stoner
Welcome over to the landscape side :)
you have approx. 112 sq. yds. to install,
on pallets I figure about 1 minute per roll for install and another 2 minutes for patching (cutting the sod to fit the area).
This is if you can bring the sod by pallets to where you need it if it is farter away it will take longer. So for 112 sq. yds (1 roll) figure about two and a half hours.this is for one man.
If you need more info check us out here!
----------
paul
I agree it takes me app 1hour per 56 yards so 1 min for laying and 2 for patch work. Is pretty close.

Have the sod cut in longer pieces and save yourself more time.

Sometimes I have no idea..........:p

Anyway. I have no idea if it's in the front, back? How far the distance is from where the pallets are delivered? Bed lines, straight curved? obstacles? does it need a little raking? is the ground soft where it will need more raking? Is he going to roll it after? Cleanup? And I don't know how is he carrying the sod? And it appears this is all a one man job.
