While ordering my trailer racks online, I noticed they had painted the floors of their trailers black. It looks really sharp and I'd like to do mine the same way, but I wanted to see what the pros and cons would be if I did. Any suggestions?

The last trailer I had, the previous owner had painted the trailers floor black as well, this is an open trailer btw. It looked good, but it made everything slide around more on the deck due to it being a gloss finish, but other than that, its OK. Guess it just depends on what you like? The one I have now was bought brand new and had brand new pine boards and I havent painted it, and may not at all? It is treated wood so it shouldnt need paint for some time, as long as I remember to brush on some thompsons every now and then.

is it metal or wood?

if its metal use the stuff they use for box liners black and durable and has a bit of grip so things wont slide around to much.
if its wood just any black tremclad easy to do touch ups

It's PT wood, which is why I was wondering what kind, if a special kind, is needed to paint. I'm not worried about anything sliding around. In fact, I feel that it would make shoveling mulch easier with the smooth surface. I just don't want to mess up the PT wood by using the wrong type of paint.

You need to stain PT wood-It shouldn't slide around after that. I've stained a lot of barns and used a spray gun from Wal-Mart that worked great and stained quickly-got in areas a brush won't reach. You can get almost any color you want.

I used a solid color stain on mine, looks pretty sharp.

That's what I was referring to.
