I was looking at the TAMU course guide on SWAT and they want you to have a basic knowledge of this before the Beginner's course on SWAT. (Not the CEU version)

Depends on your computer savy. Why ArcGIS?

i tried it to look at some contour liens for a piece of land in college station... even with alot of RAM... still moved quite slow.

Less about RAM, more about graphics card and CPU ... then RAM (in that order)

Graphics card is legit, cpu is a few years old but should still perform well enough. amd x2 4800 i believe (dual core). 64bit.

graphics card, pci express 1gig i believe.

i think the big problem was i couldnt match up an aerial view layer properly with the contours... oh well, ill knock out my surveying with a string line, a tape and some stakes on thursday:)

That was the course requirement. A Beginner's SWAT course being taught by TX A&M. In their Agrilife Extension program. How has that GPS worked out on the TD? I still haven't really given my Aquaterr a test but this spring summer and fall I'll get to use it a lot on a hay farm.

Pete, I took a few classes in it when I was working for the city, for mapping and emergency response purposes... the basics arent too bad, but there's a lot to learn.

Okay....I don't have that kind of patience. Maybe in another life.

Ditto; but if it is of interest to me and it makes my gig easier and makes more $$$, I'd be looking into it.

1) Are you working with GeoTIFF's or just images?

2) Do you have any control point coordinates?

OK in open areas, less so in the city. I'm using two units right now. The more accurate one to collect control points, the less accurate one for the data logger. Accuracy/repeatability problems can be resolved with about $10K. :dizzy:
