View Full Version : FS!: 99 Scag Hydro WB

02-22-2010, 06:13 PM
I am selling my '99 Scag SWZ 48". It has a 16hp Briggs Vanguard engine that needs some work. It ran when I put it away about a year and a half ago and does not want to start now. This is actually a very low hour mower. I bought it when I was 16 to start my business and mowed around 15 accounts with it and upgraded to an Advantage deck just a few years later. It does not have an hour meter but I would guess it has somewhere around 400 hours. The hyrdos worked perfectly when I put it away with fresh fluid. The spindles were always greased and are in perfect working condition. If you are good with your hands a rebuild kit for the motor is about 200 bucks. With a freshened engine this mower is ready to cut grass. I will try to get some pictures up in the next couple of days. $700 OBO

if you were closer i'd buy it.

Just get the carb cleaned and change the oil.I bet it will start.

You're probably right, I just haven't put the time into it since I updated equipment. I think it'd be a solid buy for someone new to the business or someone good with small engines.

would you take 500 for it?

02-23-2010, 02:04 AM
I'm fairly firm on the 700, I feel it is worth that with low hours on everything. If you will do the 700 cash I will meet you halfway for free...zanesville?

Ok guys, finally got some pictures today. The mower cleaned up real nice. Going over it I found 2 things that it needs: a clip to hold the front caster wheel (I have a piece of trimmer line in it now) they cost about $3, it also needs 1 of the deck belts from the engine to the deck. The second deck belt is on it and in half descent shape. Belt part#: 48089. Other than that everything is there and with a running motor it should be good to go.

Sent you a pm. Thanks.

Do you have a sulky for it?

02-24-2010, 10:38 PM
No sulky for sale with it, it does come with the bracket though. I had a velke stolen last year so I'm down to just 1. Thanks.

How are the hydro's? Also it needs new tires, so you wouldn't take 550.00 for it?

I could even pick it up this weekend? Could you send me more information about it in a pm, or email me at middleton_t11@moeller.org? Thanks

Just curious, what did you sell the mower for?

02-25-2010, 04:25 PM
I think that's kinda between me and the buyer, but he was the highest offer I've had.

02-25-2010, 04:31 PM
Someone got a good deal.

well, glad you sold it!

02-25-2010, 05:54 PM
Yeah so am I, I'd rather it be with someone who will use it. Sorry to you guys who were making offers, hard to turn down a local guy with cash!!

02-25-2010, 06:08 PM
yep understandable.

hope you got good money.I want $1800 for mine.not a penny less.

there are belt drives around here for sale at $2-3,000

I'd never own another belt drive.

02-27-2010, 10:51 AM
My mower didn't run, I'm assuming for 1800 yours is ready to go, hopefully with advantage deck too.

02-27-2010, 12:15 PM
it's a 95 model.it was owned by a home owner that bought it new.it's ready to go except you have to tap the starter.

on a mower this small i think the advantage deck is unnecessary for our grasses.

1800 sounds pretty steep, 3 years ago I bought an '03 48" hydro with 17 kaw for 2200 (from a dealer), mower only had 150hrs. I hope you get all your money but it may be tough. Good luck!

02-27-2010, 11:09 PM
if it does,it will be for my asking price.the difference between me and they guy you bought yours from is I don't need the money.

I actually am looking forward to using it.I don't care for the one wheeled Velke or the bagger so they are still for sale even if the mower doesn't sell.
