how many hours do you work a day and do you work on weekends unless the weather is bad during the week. I am a part timer and just curious....

I work 2.5 - 3 hours a day M-F. No weekends unless bad weather or I have a extra service that can not be squeezed in during the week.

I work 8-5 Mon thru Friday at my full time job. Bring my trailer back to work with me at lunch, change clothes at 5:00 and mow till anywhere from 8:00 to 9:30 pm. On Sat. I catch up on any rain out and do shrub/hedge trimming and other side work . I have on several occasions mowed on Sundays if my customers didn't mind. If I was doing it for the extra money I certainly wouldnt put that many hours in. Ideally, I would mow about 3 nights a week and get some things done at home. However, my future plans are to go full time so I have built my workload to near the maximum I can handle on a part time basis. (Its hard to say no to new customers:D )

Same route can take 6hrs on a good day 10 on a bad one. Try my best to estimate them at 8 hr days.
But
Depends on growth, need for cross cutting, weather, equipment trouble, if I need to talk with a customer, and how fast my tired ole butt is moving that day.
Tuesday is extras day so could be 3hrs, might end up 12hrs.
I schedule aerations, power rake, shrub/tree work, clean ups on sat. in March, April, May, June, then again Sept., Oct., Nov.

I work for a landscaper 4 days a week, and do my stuff the rest of the week. I work for him 6:30am to usually 5:30pm or later sometimes. When i do my own lawns the rest of the week, i start at 8 and finish by 5.

Ideally, 8-5 M-W, 8-12 on Thursday. Friday is for make-up work, extras, and any equipment maintenance I couldn't get done on Thursday afternoon.
Currently 8-1 M-W and 8-12 on Thursday. Still trying to fill up the rest of that schedule!

Mon. thru Fri. usually start between 7-8 A.M.
Try to finish mid afternoon, around 3. Thats when the thunder-boomers fire up. (Some days it's later.)
Sat. from 8-9 till around 2-2:30. Thats the day we do our clinics. No one around. Tried to fit them in during the week but it was a real PITA,for them and us.

Monday thru Friday, I work 9:00 to 3:00 with my husband Matt.
In the spring though he continues on working 4 out of those 5 days until 9:00PM.
Saturday he works alone doing other services we sell such as hedges, mulching, etc.
Sunday is his only day off.
He works a lot of hours. 107 accounts there's no way around not working much. This year has been our busiest year, not only with the grass growing fast, but also on the amount of extra work we have taken on. Plus now our fertilizing accounts.
He tells people when someone asks, "Well what do you do in the winter?" His reply, "I hibernate like a bear." ;)

Just part time for now, which is from 4 to 7 hours per day, usually from one or two in the afternoon until 7 to dark, depending on the work.
Right now, no weekeends.
Im in the shop at around 550 am and usually get away a little after 7pm . Landscape crews start at 630am till 630pm..Maintenance crews work from 7 to around 330-4 pm. ..overtime pay is a killer on maintenance contracts so it's kept to a minimum.
We just started every other Saturday off.
5 days a week 7am to 5or 6 pm and some days until dark unless we get a rain out for the 4 of us on the maintenace route.Sayurday and sunday we been doing mulching ,bushes and small installations the last few weeks 12 hours on both days sometimes more.
And that aint counting equipment upkeep.
It does keep a old scotsman in shape:D

M-F 10/12noon - 5/8pm/dark or later. depending on the weather & maintenance. Start earlier if I have running arround to do.
Sat latly w/ weather
Sun only if I have rented something & get that day free. Usually cut my lawn on sun as well.
Starting & finishing later this time of year more people are home = more people see & stop me for estimates. Plus customers are nicer knowing I'm so backed up but willing to work longer to get to them.
Summer I start & finish much earlier...

After reading the first few posts on this thread, I thought I was doing something wrong. 15 hours/week, 20 hours/week. How many accounts do ya'll have??? 10, 12 ??? I'm with Rod, Hoss, and LGF. 12 hours/day, 6 days a week. Sundays are for catching up if needed.

Well lets see, 5am, I'm sitting at the kitchen table putting my invoices in order, checking over the office stuff... 6am I'm out prepping the truck and equipment. 7am I'm on the first lawn...
I usually drag my sorry a$$ through the door sometime around 7-8pm. So depending on what you think work hours are, I work a 14-16 hr day 5 days a week. Saturdays I work, but I usually work from 8am to noonish, just doing some of those 'little' extras the customers ask for through the week.
Sunday night me and the wife, sit down and do a quick review of the books, even though its work, we both look at it as 'us' time. Better than sitting in front of the boob tube! :D

8 hrs a day in the field. 1 hr doing paperwork/phone work. I have put in plenty of 18 hr days and don't mind it if it's necessary.
Life IS too short to work it away. When you have children, they are your #1 responsibility.

There are some hard working guys here! I have scaled back lately and work about 8 hours a day, 4 days a week, to allow for a rain day during the week. I virtually NEVER work on weekends. I agree, life is too short to spend it working all the time(unless of course you manage a Hooters restaurant)
That said, I notice that I work a lot harder than some guys who work long hours. It's a style thing. Some work at a steady pace, take a long lunch, stop and chat a lot, and put in 10-12 hours. I prefer to blaze through it, eat on the run, and get home earlier. I'd rather have the free time.
I used to put in 70 hour weeks as a young man managing a river rafting operation, but it didn't seem like it because it was fun and half my employees were college girls. But mowing lawns? You get burned out on it and have nagging injuries if you overdo it at my age.
This would be a great part time job. 20 hours a week would net you a decent income, if your other job wasn't physical too.

I have all the accounts on a M-F list. we average anywhere from 8-14 hours a day. on the weekends i schedule all the extras to stay busy. i dont like not getting things done. i reward myself by not setting the alarm clock on sundays and sleep until my body says its time to get up. :dizzy:

7-5 M-F and 7-1 or 2 on saturdays.......sunday if we have to. Basically we are trying to get the same 2000 hours a year that normal people work in 50-52 weeks (40 hour week) crammed in in 36-40 weeks in the year for the northeast.(50-60hours a week)
9 to 12hrs a day Mon -Fri, catch up work on Sat if needed, never work on Sundays, God gave me that day off for rest.... Marks Mowing Service
