Would I see better fuel millage running some on a 22.5 aluminum rim in the back? I can get the 10 lug adapters for cheap.

You are out of luck the only way you are going to get better fuel mileage is sell the truck.

You will spend more money on the wheels and tires than you would gain in mileage savings.

what kind of mileage do you get?

i put on about 25-30K miles a year with alot of highway driving, i didnt buy the diesel expecting it to break even over time, but i do love the fact that i can get almost 500 miles out of a tank or more if need be.
i get about 14-15mpg out of my 6.4L with combined highway/city driving and and around 18 strictly highway. plowing i get about 8mpg's and towing around 10-12 depending on trailer. this is in an 09 f350 crew cab long bed single rear wheel truck.

you buy an f550 for capability not fuel mileage

putting a ten lug conversion bigger wheels and a heavier tire will decrease your fuel mileage no matter what kind of tire you put on super singles are great on semis because they are constantly on the road so a slight difference could become a big difference 300,000 miles down the road thats why you never see city trucks running them plus keep the duals if you blow out a tire with duals you can peg leg to where ever you need to get it changed blow out a single your paying for a service call and down time plus a lot more expensive tire

Good points here guys, maybe finding some low pro singles off a cheater axle? Anyways I get around 8 mpg. with 4 guys the bed full of tools and debris plus the enclosed. The truck is on the road 6-7 days a week and we drive all over the place in it.

You do know that supersingle tires are expensive they start at 700 to 1800 dollars a tire.

This is the only way you "May" get better fuel mileage I would NOT run 22.5 tires on a F-550.

You would probably have better luck with a k&n air intake system.

Thanks GR thats exactly what I was looking for. I know the tires will be expensive but compared to 4 continental's it should be about the same.
