Does anyone have an idea of what type of flagstone this is? It is not common in our area so I was trying to find out the type. The picture doesn't do it justice. The stone looks a little bluer in person....pennsylvania blue flagstone???

no almost to dark hard to tell but maybe slate. i see one stone that looks like bluestone. the others are to shiny

Looks a lot like the blue limestone we have here.
Here is a walk I repaired a few years ago, and yes the pic is before repair.

That last picture is exactly why I never do mortared flagstone. I always dry set and fill with "breeze". No moisture issues ever! It looks like PA blue, but it's hard to tell from a picture.

That one was so bad because it was 50+ years old with a bad base.
If it's done right on a good concrete slab, (that one wasn't) mortared flagstone can last much longer.
