I checked the searches, and still have a few questions. For starters, applying hydroseed to new lawns is easy. The question is, for overseeding applications where the grass is clumpy, maybe sparse, thin....what do I need to do to prep this before spraying? Can I just shoot it like I do prepared dirt?

Round-up the existing lawn and loosen soil with a harley rake or gill.
Seeding over hard soil it like spraying on concrete: it'll germinate but not grow. Tender new roots don't penatrate hard soil.

I have found that in order to keep the quality up it has to be an all or none deal. Like kent lawns said, kill, till and shoot.
