Looking for that generation truck. Regular cab, long bed. Doesn't need a plow as I have one to go on it already. Needs to be in good condition. Gas or Diesel, doesn't matter. Thanks

I want it too, lol...would be a perfect second truck for me. Just don't have the cash on hand at the moment...if this were August for Sept it would be sitting in my driveway already.

Sounds like if it were later in the year there would be some competition for that truck! I would love to have it too, but I don't have the cash right now and I would have to sell my other truck real quick. If those two things were taken care of, I would be on my way to New Jersey!

Yea, I don't know much about the 6.5s though. I just want a decent older truck. It looks clean, still gotta call him and find out more stuff before I consider it harder, but it is exactly what Im wanting. Id assume the 6.5 will give be better fuel milage than the same truck equipped with a 350 correct?

Darryl G

didn't know there was a 6.5 to be honest. 6.5 is bigger than a 350...you sure you got your engine right? A 6.0 is a 363. Mileage is probably gonna be lousy regardless. If you're looking for mileage a 3/4 ton truck isn't gonna do it.

The 6.5L is the diesel engine I think...right?

I am not real familiar with them but I just remember seeing the 6.5 has a diesel engine in other ads.

yes sir, Its the 6.5 Diesel. I was wondering what that engine would bring for MPGs. What's a 350 gas get, 12?

i would stay away from the 6.5 they are a chevrolet gas engine that has been converted from the factory. they have a lot of injector problems and injector pump problems. you will end up spending a lot of money on repairs. I had a 6.5 and had 2 injector pumps put on that cost me no less than 23oo each.

Yea, I hear that they require alot of maintenance. Im might just look for that body style with a 350, cant go wrong there.

Still looking, also consider 1500s of same years or ONLY 2-door Tahoes.

The 6.5 was NOT a gas engine. You are thinking of the 5.7 from the 80's. The 6.5 is a good engine. Really depends on previous use. If it heavy towed all its life then you might have a problem. If its just done light towing, then I would jump all over it. There was a certain year (early) that had a run of block cracks. The nice thing about the 6.5 is they are much more reasonable to repair than the duramax. The duramax is a much better engine but if you have major issues or injector problems, be prepared to get a loan to fix it.

Thanks

Bob

PS - If youre not interested, tell me where that 6.5 is. :)

If your talking about the one on Craigslist on page two, he just trade it for a Duramax on Friday. I was keeping in touch hoping to get my truck sold before this, but ran out of time.
