Hey guys just checking in to see if anyone else is experiencing the same as me up here in the north east. Im up in zone 6. Anybody else not getting the call volume this year? With the warm weather today I was expecting at least a few calls...nothing at all. Been hitting it hard with advertizing too the past 2 weeks. Much more then previous years. No where near the same ammount of calls. Maybe Im just getting impatient to get the season going...bid a few landscaping jobs, and landed a few...but nothing in the lawn maintenence end.....anyone else in the same spot? Im gonna keep hitting it hard for the next month with advertising...hopefully it will pick up soon......:hammerhead:

I been taking it left and right, not quite as far north (VA here) but I'm tied up
to next Friday for sure and probably into next Saturday, got up this morning at
7:30a and left the house by 8:40 (where that 1:40 went I don't know) and I just
got home less than an hour ago.

Gave an estimate, ran back to the house, grabbed the truck, drove to this one
customer's house to spread some granular but it was too late (dew too light),
ran back home, hooked up the trailer, pulled the mower, swapped blades, greased
it and fueled it, loaded it back up, got a call, agreed to do that, went out
and mowed the first two yards while answering more calls, got a neighbor came
out wanted me to do theirs regular, did that too, then cut 4 more.

Tomorrow?
omg 8a out of the house, do that one customer's house get there by 8:30,
run back home hook up the trailer, load the Z behind the Wb and maybe I have
time to swap blades, then go and try to mow like 8 yards, maybe more.

Sunday, no rest for the wicked, have to get the tiller and the stump grinder running for Monday,
hopefully they only require minor repairs because I'd really like to go pick up landscaping timbers as well.

Monday, man I am telling you!

Finally...
After 3 years...
THREE LONG YEARS of SLOW.
Did that ever suck, yes it did.

I think things are picking up, now I just hope they stay that way.

Try to be more efficient. You could have been home at 2 with everything done.

Volume of calls and e-mails here is out the roof so far compared to last couple years. I looked at last season and didn't hardly answer any calls until mid-April. This season, plan to have Rd 1 revenue booked by then. Just amazing what a good early warm up will do.

I'm picking up as well. I have 18 next week with a complete bed reno on Friday. I hoping for 35-40 a week.

This Global Warming has put north central Alabama a little bit behind. Grass is just starting to green up and we should be in full swing in two weeks.

Slow here, but went from cold to wet... I expect that it will pickup greatly in the next few weeks.

No, it doesn't work that way, once I leave the house I work until dark,
whether I leave at noon or 6am, when I'm backed up a week or longer and if
I have to run back home 3 times or not, none of it makes a dang difference.

If I had done it your way, supposedly...
At 2pm it would have been time to start on tomorrow's list, and work until dark.
It's not even a day to day list, it's all one long list, whether I get it done now or later.
And some folks might think that's great, I'd be caught up in no time.

But understand...
I don't care to work myself right out of a job.
I'll work half days to make sure I have an entire week full of work before I knock it out in 2 days.
But in this case I really am pretty busy :p

I don't understand that logic, but to each his own. I would rather work 2 days for the same money than 5 half days. What you have for work is what you have. The paycheck at the end of the week is the same if you only had one job. 5 half days or 2 full days. We stay pretty busy and that doesn't really come up but if it was me I would finish in two days and take 5 off before I worked 5 for the same money I could have made in 2.

Dont understand all the blade swapping. And the tiller and stump grinder had all winter to get ready.
