Guys I had my 21" toro stolen yesterday. They tried to get my Everride Scorpion but I had the key on me, and they didn't have time. I currently have a 6x10 open trailer. I was looking at getting an enclosed trailer anyway and this incident seals the deal. Now I have a 52/23 Everride Scorpion, 21" Exmark push mower, Toro 21" (does not need to be on the trailer most of the time), Stihl Trimmer, Edger, Hedge Trimmer, 2 5gal. gas cans and 1 2gal gas can, Trash can, assorted hand tools, and toolbox (medium size carry) Redmax EBZ7100, and Stihl BR420. I will be pulling it with a 2006 Ford F-150 V8 (4.6) 4X4. I perfer a tandom axel with a front side door, V-Nose. Is 6.5x12 or 7x14 a good size. Trying not to have to buy a diesel truck to pull one.

My truck says its maximum trailer weight is 6000lbs. I guess that means loaded and all. When I am looking at trailers they have a GVW #, is that what the trailer can hold or how much the trailer weighs by itself?

Does your truck say that or your hitch?

The truck says that. The trailer says 5000lbs. I looked at an enclosed trailer today 6x12 single-axel with the front/side door and v-nose, it says it was 2990lbs (GVWR). The problem is I will have to have a place to store it, whereas my open trailer 6x10 fits in my garage. Still trying to decide if I am going to get cables and locks or bite the bullet and spund the money on an enclosed.

Store it in your driveway or in your yard

GVWR is the total weight of a loaded trailer. You need to look at what axles the trailer is equipped with and that will help you figure out the GVWR. Then find out the dry weight of the trailer and subtract that from the GVWR and that's how much you can haul.

My dump trailer has two 7000# axles, so 14k GVWR. It weighs around 4500# empty, so 14000-4500=9500# I can haul in the trailer.
