Zoysia fits your description but I don't know if it grows in your area. Here is a chart for Meyer Zoysia, I like Emerald best though.

Large caps is for hollerin' only!
Meyer Zoysia is a very pretty grass.....have 2 yards with it and love to mow it. Heck, it even stripes a little down here if ya let it get a little tall. Problem is my customers always tell me to cut it short!
Just can't stripe nuthin' down south.

I'm sorry, Ray, I REALLY don't mean to wear this out, but everytime I bring up something of this subject (or thereabouts), it always has to do with you. If there was EVER an award to be given - for resourcefulness on obtaining and providing information, and/or illustrations, you, by FAR would have to be the recipient of that award. Thank you for all that you do.

I've been around Winrock Grass Farm (actualy part of Winrock Farms) since 1955. Winthrop Rockefeller started the farm on Petit Jean Mt. in Arkansas and started the Zoysia farm to have a continual supply of sod for the "dressed up" areas of the cattle farm and offices. My father worked for him for 35 years and we put zoysia on our one acre lot in 1957. This has been the best looking lawn I have about ever seen. You can mow it short and it looks good but leave it about 3 to 3.5 in and you will never have a thicker carpet in a yard. It's a must to keep the blades sharp to cut the stuff though.

BTW the web site for the WR Grass Farm is www.winrockgrass.com (http://www.winrockgrass.com)
