View Full Version : Question About an Age-Old Method

What method do you use to measure voltage at the first and last fixture on a given lead. Do you splice in a short pigtail of 16 gauge wire with the ends wir-nutted off at the first and last fixture? Do you use wire piercing probes, etc.
Thanks for any tips in this regard!

Its a good topic and should not be disregaurded. Proper voltage at your fixtures and how to test for it is one of the more important things you can do on your jobs.
CAST makes a nice pigtail for checking voltage at the fixture underload. It is basically 2 sockets. 1 you place the lamp in and the other you check the voltage with your meter.
Steve can you chime in with a picture or link ?
I modified mine by splicing the test tool directly to a pair of meter leads. Way quicker and I also usually just leave a 20w lamp in it.
