i just got back from Lubbock Tx. I saw a few adds for LCO's and they all had in bold letters as if a specilty SCALPING. i thought scalping was bad does anyone know of a good type of scalping

I lived in Lubbock for 5 years. Most of the grass they use there is bermuda or one of its hybrids. It is common practice there to scalp the lawns (1st mow) in the spring to avoid thatch problems. Most people also cut it too short on a regular basis during the growing season (<1"), so you tend to see some browning in the summer heat.
i noticed the browing. thanks for the info i was curious as to the reason

Many homeowners think they have a "golf course" type lawn if they just cut it short enough.
