My favorite part of the mower is this thing right here, the suspension seat. I would not own one without now.

I didn't know if i would like these handles but they are awesome. They make one handed operation a breeze!

We'll see how the power goes when this puppy gets broke in.

Nice mower -- I pick up a used 830a today. Looks like they changed the trim side caster arm angle on the new ones. It appears that yours mirrors the right side but on mine the trim side angle is nearly straight.

I believe that is only for the Z970 because the only deck you can get is the 72 inch, the rest of the new models have a straight arm angle on the trim side....at least mine does

is it good on hills

No hills yet, just a ditch and no sliding whatsoever. It looks like the stance is wider on this one and with the nearly 20f/ 80r weight distribution i cant imagine it having any problems on the hills.
I traded in an 830a and i have slid down a few hills on it but it was a very controlled slide no nose dives like a few others I have been on. What i mean is if you are mowing sideway it never felt like the front wanted to go down or the machine never felt tippy, it would always start sliding in the rear on steep stuff and you could angle out of it.

Looks like rain for the next few days so no mowing for a bit.

I have a 60% chance of mowing tomorrow! I hope the rain holds off.

Confirmed, no problems with the hills. I just have to get used to a 72" deck.

I'm looking at upgrading my 777. How do you like the 970 so far? I always loved the 997diesal but the 37hp looks to good to pass up.

That has to be one of the best mowers out there. I plan on demo'ing one this Saturday just for the hell of it.

The amount of gas these large mowers drink is crazy. I don't understand it.

So how do you like the suspension seat? Is there a big difference in the ride?

Just ordered my 970 should be in next week. I have had a demo and it may use more gph but it cuts so many more acres per hour it is less to operate. less labor and more productivity. The blades never even slow down in the thickest of grass. I cant wait!

The amount of gas these large mowers drink is crazy. I don't understand it.

The 35hp Vanguard engine uses 1.6 gph on my Scag Turf Tigers. I had a Kohler 25hp on a Scag Tiger Cub 52" that used the same amount. Also ran a BB Outlaw with 54" deck last year 31 Kawi that used 2.0 gph.

Last year I demoed a 930 60" deck with a 29hp for 40 hours for 8 days. It used 2.2 gph.....:dizzy: I would hate to even try the 37 Kawi.

Hopefully JD will have the Vanguard as an option some day. Until then I can't afford to run them with the amount of hours I run my machines per year. I do think it is an awesome machine with a deck that rivals the Scag Velocity Plus deck.
