Im looking at a tru cut for my 10K sqft front lawn cutting bermuda grass. Good mower or not? I am currently cutting with a Mclane and wanted to upgrade but dont want to spend a lot. Your thoughts please

Yes good mower definitely an upgrade from your McClain. Just have your shop check the life of the reel, bed knife. They usually get sold when they are on their last sharpening. All though not a deal breaker just don't spend too much. Here you can pick them up for 5-600 bucks all day.

If your lawn is bumpy get a 25" if its smooth go for the 27" if its a 21" its too much money.

They are just so hard to find around here. What would that mower run there. 20 inch 2008 trucut w/ bagger Honda 5hp?

I've never used the TruCut mower, but the TruCut power rake is the best one i've ever used.... GL sir

Anything will be a step up from your McLane. What your describing sounds like a good buy. I prefer Eastman reels over Tru-cut, but Tru-cut is still a very good mower. If you can get the 25" or 27" over the 20", it will obviously take less time to cut and you can get the sulky that goes along with it. Just keep the reel sharpened and avoid all objects like sticks and sprinklers.

For 10K of turf you need a minimum of a 25-27". Once you start cutting with a reel you will need to cut 2x per week so keep this in mind when you look at a 20". I would say a 20" is fine for 6k and under, but anything more and its going to take too long.

Cloud prefers the Eastman/Trimmer but I dont care for them even though I currently reel with a 30" Legacy which is an Eastman clone. I prefer the dual clutches of the Lockes and the TruCuts which allow transporting the mower without reel spinning. Not a big deal for you maybe, but it is for me.
