If you buy the 36", save yourself some money and get the fixed deck. (The cut will look the same at that size). Any larger than consider the floating deck. Also, all those brands are comprable, with the possible exception of the Cub Cadet. I have heard many bad remarks from previous owners.
You getting a walk behind or rider?

For me and many others the toro is the only walk behind I would ever buy. Ther reason is the T-Bar steering. Look at the thread: What type of controls and you will see what i'm talking about.

Almost any commercial mower will be fine, base your decision more on dealer support. I would also consider buying used if you don't want to spend a ton of money.

I think you will be very happy with a Toro 36" fixed deck. The t-bar steering is easy to use. If you are going to mow bigger hills look into a dual hydro setup over the belt drive.
