We were going to work a half day as we are behind due to rain every day since last Sunday. However it rained again this morning(1.5"), so it is too wet to mow anything. We have had about 6" of rain this week. We will work 12hr days on Fri. and Sat. to catch up. May have to work Sun. also. That would be the first Sun. we have worked in two years.:(

I will mow a bed & breakfast tommorrow (owner is out of town for a few days-no rooms booked) but no residentials . I'm behind though due to about 6-7 inches of rain in the last 4-5 days and some will still be to wet to mow friday:(
Just glad I'm not in San Antonio with 16 inches of rain in the last 3-4 days!!!

I'm going to be working on some pork butt. Firing up my smoker at 0700. Grass is pretty smoked anyway. I'm feeling especially patriotic this year. Gonna wave a flag and watch some fireworks.
Happy Birthday America!!!

going to the lake, gonna drink beer, gonna hang out with hot women, gonna go water skiing... cut grass.... i don't think so.
i hope all of you are safe. don't drink and drive!
I'm not working on the 4th, my guys have the day off paid. We will be working on the 5th, hopefully will get everything done so the weekend is free.
Most of my customers would be angry if I showed up on a major holiday to work on their property.

Grass knows no holidays.............as usual I'll be working the 4th.

thursday off-back at it friday
07-03-2002, 05:51 PM
No can do! Back at it Friday.
Nobody expects to see me on a site tomorrow, so I'm taking advantage of the free day to get in time on a patio job. Hopefuly this heat wave will be a little less extreme tomorrow. If is is still roasting I'll work the morning on the patio and then go mow some commercials. Was supposed to do a hydroseeding job tomorrow but they cancelled, they're having a party.

Looks like either guys are working tommorow without question, some are doing 1/2 days and some are no way, they're off.
I wonder if the responses have varied due to the type of accounts they have?
I can easily see cutting commercial accounts tommorow, since so many will be closed.
But is anyone going out to cut residentials?
I wouldn't, I think it'd be rude to show up on a major holiday. I'd cram them in earlier in the week so they get done before the holiday.

I'm mowing on the 4th (today). Didn't want to get behind because I won't be here this weekend to do them and I dont' have anything better to do anyway. Going to the coast this weekend to hang out there so I figure I can wait a few days. If I didn't mow today, The phone would be ringing with people asking why I didn't mow. Although, one customer did ask me why I was mowing today.
07-04-2002, 07:01 PM
No mowing for us, just a extra family day.

I was hoping to have a 4 day weekend, but that didn't happen. I saw Wed that it was going to by mid morning. Since we were mowing Thursday route already I quit at noon wed, and took all day thurs off. I slept in till 9:30. What a luxury. I have 9 accounts all res to do today. There is not one of them that would have expected or appreciated me showing up to mow yest.
No work sat and sun either.

I didn't work on the 4th but today (the 5th) was a long day.
Jeez, Brickman, you were actually hoping for a 4-day weekend? Were you born a dreamer, or did you become one? We are working stiffs! We don't get 4-day weekends during lawn season. There will be plenty of time for working on perfecting your hanging-out tecnique from October thru March.

I deserve an E for Effort. :D :blob2:
As for not working on the weekend, this week I will be in class both sat and sun. So I will not be being a beach bum. But that would be nice.
07-05-2002, 11:28 PM
Actually the real problem is that I am lazy. Hence the desire for a 4 day weekend. :D
