I almost bought one, then decided to get a garage door spring and mounted on the top rail about 2 ft in front of my gate, mounted the other end to my gate near the top on the side and it works great. Doesn't take up as much room either. I put a short piece of pvc pipe over it for grabbing it safely and not getting pinched. $34 total and about 2 hrs. I can flip the gate up with 1 ft and catch it. But it won't look as nice as yours but I don't trip over it at all.

i dont recommend the gorilla or the trimmer trap or any that look like those. they all failed and fell apart on us so we changed styles and went to the elegator and it has been great, and actually stronger with no hitches.

That was what I wanted but instead built a homemade version of. The simple design is hard to beat.

Have elegator, bought two, super heavy gate. Not long to install, 5Lbs up and down. Worth every dime?
