Is there a cross ref, from my kaw, oil fliter to a fram~?
Number I'm running on my mower is Kaw, 49065-2078 , or should I just stick with the dealers filter~?
Also just read on a site that I should be running straight w30 in my mower and not 10-w30....which I've been running since I've bought it.

If its a OHV and models with hydraulic lifters, they recommend 10W-30. I would stick to the dealer filter. I have a 19hp Kaw and they just changed the part number for their oil filter. Same filter, they just wanted to give it a new number.

I would go with a Napa (WIX) which I believe yours is a Napa 1334 or with Quaker State QS4967. The Napa/Wix are definitely better, they will cost you about $7 apiece. Quaker State is basically the same as Fram minus the 'Suregrip'. Frams run about $5-6, Quakers run about $3-4, unless they're on sale, I normally stock up at Menard's when they go on sale for like $2.50. I would run 10W-30 in any twin cyl unless the owner's manual says otherwise. 10W-30 will do everything SAE30 does and runs much better in cold weather.

Unless NAPA has changed the filter number, the one I have used on Kaws is 1394. If you are in an agricultural area many NAPA dealers have an annual "Farm and Industrial Filter Sale". I usually buy by the dozen on 1394's and 1396's(kohler) for around $3.60 each.

I have said it before and I will say it again. If the mower is under warranty use the OEM oil filter! I know about the moss magnusson law and everything but DO NOT give the manufacturer any excuse at all to deny you warranty! Once warranty is up use what ever you want. I like the stens oil filters not a fan of fram!

I have been using the Fram filter from WalMart.About $2.67 if I remember.I have a shelf in the shed for filters and oil.I live to far away to drive to the auto store everyday. So I buy oil and filters only on sale. Then I have a supply on hand at any time.

You're right, 1394. I just replaced one for a neighbor on a Honda that was a 1334 I think. Also, we were using 1348s on our Kohlers? Sorry for the mistake :hammerhead:

If I remember correctly the fram number is 4967 but will have to check to make sure first if I still have some of the old boxes left.
