I have the echo weedeater 2601 which I love. I purchased the new 260 which was suppose to be the same. It acts like its always missing and doen't sound near as powerful as the 2601. The dealer says they changed the carb on the new model. Does anyone have the same experence.

Oh yea. You have our friends from CA to thank for that. Mine leaks gas and drips from carb when heated by sun. Floods and won't start. When it starts black and blue smoke everywhere until all fuel can burn off. Kind of ironic that an enviro modification could do so much poluting. Oh forget about getting it started when the mercury drops below 40 deg. You will have to warm it up for 5 min before you trim. My fuse is getting short with Echo.

I have (2) 2601's and (1) 260. The 260 is my favorite. Always easy to start and only have to run it wide open in tall overgrown areas. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Ditto but for Red Max.

I called them and they said since there is no breathable gas cap due to CA Regulation I guess it's called CARB it will do that.

I bought three 260's this spring. Moved up from the srm 2100's. I am having problems with the handle that is on the shaft. It seems that I constantly have loose screws or they even strip out of the cross over piece of the handle. I will be talking to a r and d person from echo when I get to Louisville. And yes mine also are cold blooded.
