I currently have a Hustler Mini Z 19/52. I am wanting to upgrade to a 60in. as I have bought a new lot. (3 acres). I was thinking about a Bad Boy but wasnt sure what model is comparable to mine. Would it be the pup series. I guess when I say comparable I mean are the wheel motors and pumps and motor comparable.

I'd recommend the Pup series as that would be a good apples to apples comparison. You can pull the full specs down on their site and do a side-by-side comparison.

My final decision came down to the Lightning and a Hustler Super Z. After it was all said and done the overall bang for your buck went to the Bad Boy which is what I chose. For residential in reality anything commercial grade will suit you just fine. My suggestion is to research them all and pick the one that you feel fits your needs the best. You will receive a thousand responses to this thread on what everyone feels is the "best" mower but I'd do my own research and make the decision based on the features that are most important to you.

Is the Kohler on the pup a good motor. Not starting an argument as I really dont know what I am talking about but I always consider Briggs and Kohlers with cheap mowers

The Kohler Command is a heck of an engine, Exmarks most popular. In the Pup series the Kohler is what I order for stock, it seems to be the best value in that line. 30hp Kohler Command is a little big on the 48", but not to many are keen on the Vanguard yet (I am), but it is what they want. If you want you can spend a little more and get the 31hp Kawasaki, but then you are in Outlaw or Lightning range, and might as well step up.... All the engine manufactures have a cheap mower, I am seeing more and more of these junk 22hp kawasaki's on alot of the home depot and atwoods stuff now, I would rather have a Briggs ELS in that series, just depends on the series of the engine, everyone has their dogs. I have around 30 or so of the 30 hp Kohler Commands running around right now, and the only wrench to one so far the rings didn't seat so it smoked a little, other than that nada.....:weightlifter:

I've got a 52 inch Pup with the 30hp Kohler Command. Got it last June. Just about to turn 50 hours this week. All I can say is WOW! For me as a home owner mowing 5 acres of Bahia Grass in Central Mississippi every week, this mower has been a blessing. What use to take me days praying my lawn tractor didn't break down, now only takes a few hours. If you have never had to mow Bahia, it grows 6 to 8 inches in a week. Drought means nothing to Bahia. It loves the dry heat. Give it a little rain and hold on. The Pup with the Kohler just doesn't care. Just another day on the lot. I've had bush hogs on the property that had more problems mowing the Bahia than the Pup. My place looks beautiful now. My wife and I rode across the property with a trailer load of lumber today because it was just easier than trying to turn the trailer around. The look of pride on my wife's face as we past parts of the property was worth every penny we spent. Oh yea! She shares time in the saddle. My wife loves to mow with the Pup.

We went form this,

after 1 month of no mowing when my LT deck failed,

It's even better looking this year since we now own the Bad Boy Pup.
