I was wondering if anyone had some speculations on how much weight my truck can hold. 1996 dodge ram 2500 8 ft bed with 2 ft sides.

Are you asking about weight or volume? An 8' box filled level with the top will hold 2 cubic yards, so with 2' stake sides on it you can probably double that volume. As far as weght goes... That's dependent on your wheel-base, engine and 2x4 or 4x4.

Gas or Diesel.

If it's gas, is it the V10 or the V8

Also, what transmission do you have. This will effect GVW and payload capacity.

Now on to the wheel base. We have established that you have an 8 foot box. Do you have a regular cab (2 doors), an extended cab (rear seat with some half assed backwards opening doors if your lucky) or a crew cab (4 real doors with a back seat)

a 5.9l would be there 360ci. i dont know what their v-10 is. if its a 360ci, they are a pretty solid motor.

its a 2500 so id say 3000-4000 just know with a 96 its 14 year old springs so expect serious sagging at that weight...also if you want an exact number www.google.com

i think a 8ft bed filled level will hold more than 2 yds. i think mine is 2.7 level to the top

dodge

5.2litre= 318ci

5.9litre=360ci

8.0 v10=488ci

dodge didnt put the 318 in the 2500 series only the 360's
