Wahoo! Just got my new Turf Tiger 61" 35hp Vanguard delivered...

Too bad it's wet and soggy here in NE PA. I did actually got two swipes with it to confirm PTO and all was ok before I signed the paperwork and let me tell you, that thing throws grass! I had a 2001 Turf Tiger with a 61" deck before but it was the Advantage deck with the smaller opening.

Now if it would just dry out so I can take it on the hills and really test the 10 extra horses.

Congrads! You made the right purchase. You have many care free years of mowing ahead of you. You'll love the velocity plus deck compared to the advantage. There just ain't no comparison on how much debree these mowers move. Also the cut is awsome. Did you get the Stripe Kit? If not that would be my next purchase. My 29 dfi lays some great stripes.

Nope, didn't get the stripe kit. Given that I'm mowing what used to be pasture that's now "lawn" I don't get too picky over it. I like to make it look nice, but not worried about THAT nice. Plus, with the acerage spread out and all, not sure how much you'd even see it.

Yeah meant to take some when it was in my garage before I took it up to the barn.... Will take some pics maybe tomorrow afternoon when I get back home from work.

Good early birthday present for me! My husband laughs that I'm happy as a clam to get a new lawn mower for my birthday.

I don't like bumper stickers but I'm considering getting a small magnetic sign made up for the hitch area that says "Grass Bit@h".

Sans the fact it ate the deck drive belt after one hour because of a loose pulley, it was great! Throws grass like noone's business and powers up the steep hill I have to deal with like a champ. I also have a 2001 tt with the 25hp kohler in it and the new one kicks it's butt in high damp field grass.

Have Scag moved the seating position forward or are you like, really short? lol

watson524
05-20-2010, 08:00 AM
Nope, I'm 5'10" which is on the tall side for a female and mostly legs.... the seat as you see it is one notch up from all the way back. Doesn't seem like they made any seat changes length-wise between this one and my 2001 Turf Tiger.

Just seems in the last pic that theres a big gap between the engine and the seat.
On a side note, I am interested in seeing your legs now though!

watson524

They did move the hydro oil tank to the side vs right behind the seat where it is on my 2001 so maybe that's why there's more space there. Also - it gives better air flo to the cooler.

As for my legs.... LOL! I don't have pictures of those.

Legs are usually covered in jeans with my sh%t kicker boots on.

Dickson City, PA. F&S Supply. That was no financing by the way. I will tell you that they got a few of these 61" with the 35hp Vanguard early in the year at a lower price and sold them at that price. when I bought mine last week, they had one left with that setup. I suspect if that's gone and they're getting them at today's prices, the price will be higher but it's worth a shot. PM me if you want my sales guy's name. I will ask the guy tomorrow when he brings mine back if he knows what they have in stock.

Watson, you do know you've now got lawn jockeys all over the country sitting behind their keyboards singing Bellamy Brothers Redneck girl to themselves.

Seriously, that's a great deal on a great mower. Well done. One of the well respected members here got the same rig last year, at the same good price. He loves the 35 vanguard. Mega power and easy on the fuel. Can't beat that combination. I remember him saying he's only using about 1.7 gallons an hour.

LOL! Funny! My husband will tell you, I'm tough to negotiate with because I don't generally come out on the short side and I LOVE car shopping. I'm the designated car shopping go-along among my family and friends because it's a game with me to toy with the car dealers and get money out of them.

And funny about the Bellamy Brothers song. I prefer "John Deere Green" myself.... albeit, since my dad has passed away, we sold his 1957 Model 40 tractor and I'm overrun by orange in the garage. 2 Scags and our Kubota L48 backhoe... which yes, I'm quite adept with if you'd like to keep humming the song ;-)

In Tennessee, see Jimmy Collins@ Collins Sharpening in College Grove for even a better deal on the 35 vanguard plus great service. I think I got the last one he had and I don't know if the factory promotion is still available, however.

I thought the same thing and wonder why they didnt move the frame forward to the next set of holes like on a 27 Kohler which will make the mower shorter.
If you look you can see the extra holes on the frame. The way it is, is for the extra room for the raditor. Which the Briggs aint got.

Yes I saw it, that and all that talk about legs made me think of another bumper sticker/tee shirt. Remember the one that said Gas, Grass, or @ss no one rides for free. Seems like you have options......

I can't say as I've ever heard of a shirt/sticker with that on it but that's hilarious!
