I've been asked to bid a 12 acre park. Has a few trees to go around just a little bit of hill to use a walk behind and maybe a little weed eating but mainly open ZTR mowing. The reason I'm asking you guys is the guy that asked me to bid it hinted that most bids will be around the $10-$15 per acre estimate. Am I missing something? I mow 2.5 acre residentials for $80-$100 depending on how much trimming and cleanup. But $120 to mow 12 acres seems ridiculous to me. But maybe I'm wrong. Let me know what you think.

So what if he can get someone to do it for that, what would you bid?

Thats an odd thought...

but if you want to share a thought with a question, I'll then answer yours with another question. Will you mow a job for me that will take you almost 5 hours to do for only $120?

You've already answered your own question.

Thanks Bill. I've had people try to tell me that parks are different and that is all you can get cause there are many companies that do it for that much. I haven't put it on paper but no way you can recover all your costs. These days, it literally cost $20 in gas just to drive there.

One small note, never trust the figure given to you by the guy asking for the bid.

They have an interest in getting as low a bid as possible, and I know matter of factly that I've been lied to before in an effort to produce a lower bid than I'd normally submit.

I'd say go ahead and bid it but don't alter your pricing at all.
