questions about grasshoper 612

just picked up a 612 grasshopper cheap, was planning on using on smaller residential yards instead of using the 60 inch for the smaller yards, anyways i know the 12.5 is alittle underpowered, but it works for smaller residential yards. also i dont have a manual for it

1) what type of hydro fluid should go in those?

2) is it possible to switch from single tail wheel to dual wheel? think thats the wide stance?

3) mower is in excellent shape would repowering it to a new 16 hp be worth it? I saw them online for around 775.00 for the new motor, is it going to be a noticeable difference? the 12.5hp runs fine maybe i could sell it to help pay towards a new 16 hp

i will say its not nearly as fast as my ferris but it beats the hell out of a belt driven walk behind!

Call Grasshopper and ask for customer service. They can diesct you to the closest dealer who can get you a book. If no dealer close, the factory can probably send you one directly

still wondering about repowering is the 4 xtra hp worth it?

44 or 45 inch, i mowed with it yesterday some real thick grass down around our pond and it did wonderful for 12.5 hp i was really susprised. so i was thinking 16 would make a decent difference.

I picked up a old Grasshopper with a 60" deck and only 18 hp Briggs opposed twin. Underpowered for sure but if you don't push it to much it will mow ok. Its my back up machine and i let my dad us it some on the family farm. Wish i had a 52" deck not the 60".

Hydro wise I'm to believe most of the time they use 10w30 for the hydros.

it really does mow great if your just mowing your normal height yards, i will probably keep the 12.5 till it quits, its sort of a back-up mower for bigger yards but it is replacing my walk-behind for smaller yards, so far so good
