Weeds, Moss & Dense Shade

Got a client with a decent size back yard that is completly surrounded with Large shade trees. There is not one blade of grass growing , just weeds and moss... What can I do ?? What should I be looking at to correct this and get some lawn action going on back there ?? I know grass will grow, cause done it befoer( other places ) , but I have never seen soo much moss and weed growth ?? could it be cause of a high water table or sitting water , no drainage ?? what , any one come accross this and know a good solution would appreciate feedback ,, Thanks ...

Weve tackled several jobs like this, and we always began with thinning out the trees. This works wonders allowing more light, water, and air movement,

Oncre you get the light problem solved, do a soil test and adjust accordingly. I would not suggest doing anything until you get some light in there.
