You got a lawn business?

How much landscape experience do you have?

I run Lawn Jockey in Lewisville Texas. We are a Residential Lawn Care company. We used to provide other services such and Full landscape and hardscape installs. I found it much easier to let the company run itself by eliminating all services that required my personal touch in the business.

I still own this Lawn Care company North of Dallas. My thought was simple.. Make a business that could make my family money if I were killed. I guess that is the veteran in me that plans for the worst :usflag:

So check out http://www.yourlawnjockey.com

That is my home site for lawn care. If you want to do some research on myself or my company I go by the name lawn_jockey on this site and have been a member for at least 4 or 5 years.

Wow - look at that big font - LOL

I should have hit preview.

Yeah ... was just curious if you were a green industry person. Because every now and then some of these SEO website guys drop in here out of the blue.

For green trades sites, its sometimes more interesting bouncing ideas with green trades folks.

Like that nice box on the truck in the photo on the lawn care site.

Hmmmm ....

Doing okay on the website thing. Up to about 1800 pageviews per day lately. Even aside from the calls for pruning or landscape estimates, I'm getting over $100 per month from Google from Adsense.

Now that you mention it, I can see how your boxes could save fuel.

Out of curiosity...is there a reason that your lawn care company doesn't dominate google the way that your client in the video does. I googled lawn care in your area and you did come up one time but you def. don't own the page.

thanks

Yes there is a reason my site has dropped it's results. Google Likes fresh contrent and fresh means within the last 30 days or so. My content has not been refreshed in myabe 2 months. I have been loading 4 companies into my database and launching them, I also have been touring local conventions daily. This can be illustrated by looking at page 2 for "flower mound lawn care" or "Lewisville lawn Care" or "Highland Village lawn Care" I don't do landscaping. When content is no longer fresh it will fall to position 11 or 12 which is on page 2.

Google also looks at a persons IP address to see where they are searching from. What you see may be different than what local folks see because of their proximity to my target audience. Usually this in not much of a difference. It will show maybe one less listing for you if you were searching from New york and looking for "flower mound texas lawn care".

I will put up some new stuff for myself this week and should be back on top within a week after that with all my new Fresh Content.

With what you have seen with how Google treats new fresh content on the web you should also see that a monthly maintenance of fresh content is necessary to keep the domination going. That is why a one time service is not going to get you much work. A monthly service to keep you ranked is the only way to consistenly keep your brand on the top of the page.

Not necessarily. My sites are DB driven with dynamic content. It's a very simple thing to have the content "refresh" or "update" itself as I do on over 7000 pages on my real estate site.

Also, lawn care is relatively easy to get on the first page of search results. There's not much competition at all in the SERP no matter what city you're in.

Good work, though. I'm sure your holly lake customer is very happy with their results.

Regards.

Yes, not only does your IP come into play, but whether or not you are logged in with a gmail account as well. Results will vary depending on many factors.

The main limiting factor is the number of websites really trying with any practical technique.

If there are only 12, then its easy.

If its 50 of them, its not easy. And any thought otherwise is unwise. In any city.

In 6 years if there are 200 websites competing with practical technique, its a roll of the dice for page one.

So the potential for ease more or less hinges on whether there may be just a few sites that are not really managed for significant results.

Agreed.

Thing is, lawn care companies are not, and have never been big spenders on Internet Marketing. It's been adult entertainment, gambling, and real estate that spend the big bucks. So relatively speaking, lawn care is an easy company to get on the first page of SERP, because very few of them are spending money to market on the Internet.

The migrant companies in our area would fit that.

There's a lot of landscape + lawn companies here too. And many of them have fairly decent sites, but plenty off the radar as far as the first pages.

The landscape designer niche has barely approached this yet.

I've heard from a lot of landscape designers that they want better results. And they are experimenting searching to see whose sites come up. But they are just sort of in limbo as far as really hiring someone or implementing changes on their own.

No complaints from me

Speaking of those boxes, would you post or PM me his info. I keep forgetting to write that guy's info down.

Also, to hijack the thread even more, what are your opinions of those boxes on Chevy Colorado's vs the Ranger as well as recommendations between 4 cyl and 6 cyl engines?

I see Google pwnage and the first thing I do is look into it, then
if I find someone is spamming the engine I report it, end of story.
