I have a client who wants me to resod an area where she has destroyed the grass by renovating her back yard, it needs about 375sq ft of sod. Sod should cost me around $1 a ft, and I have know idea how to price it. I offered to put seed down because it would be cheaper but she wants sod down yesterday bc her dogs make a muddy mess. First sod job I've ever had as a business and need a little help. Thanks in advance.

2x the cost of the sod is typical.

$1 a square foot????

That is insane.

You can get it from Home Depot for .60

I get it for .20.

Find a sod farm in your area.

$75 per pallet delivered here...504 sq feet. If I have to buy one pallet it cost me $85 to pickup.

I get the pallet for $100 but you have to go pick it up.

They charge a lot for delivery, need to be buying a good amount to make it worth it.

$75 delivered is ridiculous. I guess it costs less to grow with warm weather grass.

I edited my post above right before you posted...$85 per pallet if I pickup. $75 per pallet is if I order several pallets. I could get it for $65 per pallet 2 years ago...the place I buy if from is about 8 miles from me.

I get it for 100$ per pallet and that's 700^2' so you'll need half of that, so it'll be like 50$ idk it shouldent take you more than 2.5 hours so I'd say like 100-150$ total including sod.

You know how to do sod right!? You gotta stager it or it won't grow. And don't forget a pocket knife!

Pocket knife! More like a machete! You must also know that the edges are beveled so they fit together snugly so not to leave gaps.

They actaully make a special knife, I have no idea what is called, but it's seraded on onside and sharp in the other,

the place she wants the sod gets sun right because sod needs lots of sun. Also don't forge to brake up the ground a little where it's going and water it like 3 times a day, and mow it after 3 weeks with a push mower and bag it.

Its a fancy machete! I have seen them before, but the machete works fine for me and honestly I have never seen anyone use a sod cutting knife.

Thanks for all your feedback guys, very helpful. I'm going to call around a bit today finding some cheaper sod prices than grass pad. And I normaly just use a sharpened concrete trowel and yes I know how to lay sod, its just been about 3 years. Again thanks for all the feedback, much appreciated.
