I just love how nice the 6.4 was that I looked at. I read horror stories though of their fuel mileage and problems. Who of you has one currently or has had one and did you like it or have any problems?

pics of the truck.

I had one. Fuel mileage is horrible unless you delete the DPF, cat and tune it.

Here's my '09. I love everything about the truck except the fuel mileage is rediculous.

It pulls that 9,000 travel trailer quite easily.

yeah thats why we stick with 6.0s until i can afford 08s+ and do all that lol. But knew a guy that had one with all this done and milage wasnt bad at all after that work and was a bad truck! id still get one.. just know that id have to do all the work to make it "acceptable" in my mind.

only reason i havent done the DPF delete and tuned mine is becuz it voids tht nice 100,000 mile warranty!!

stock I was getting 13-14 no trailer, I had as bad as 6mpg pulling a enclosed trailer with one of my cars going to car shows with it. After tune and DPF, CAT delete with spartan tunes I was 19-20 regular driving and about 14-15 pulling my 26' enclosed trailer. All numbers where hand calculated

Nice, which tune are you running? Do you like it?

From what I have read, the job 3's which were built later on and have the larger air dam on the bottom are the ones to get.

The larger air dam was supposed to improve mileage, but didnt really help alot. Some guys saw a small improvment, but it was usually less than 1mpg

That's awesome. Probably a whole new monster after you put that thing on.

I drive one daily, 26 gallons and that lasts around 225 miles. I'm always hauling or towing 2-5 tonnes, There are no flat areas around here, and my foot is heavy.

i have an 09 with about 40K on it. been trouble free, only big issue was an EGR replacement with the new redesigned unit. i have the 7yr 200K warranty on it. it plows all winter and does daily driving and towing duties as well.

i can see 16-17 on flat highway if im easy on it. got about 15.5 hand calcd on a trip to tennessee doing 75mph through the mountains. overall for what i expect the truck to do im not concerned with the mileage as much. i do mostly highway. my truck weighs 8500lbs.

overall i love this truck, im planning on a banks 6gun with IQ (dpf compatible tuner) which is simple to take off if im bringing it to the dealer.

i also own an 06 6.0 and the power difference is very noticeable.

Im on my third 6.4 my first 08 was a jobe at best. The other two were great, just make sure you stay away from the job 1's. Fuel mileage is horrible unless you delete the dpf and then its great. I get 18 mpg on the highway on 36 inch tires. Ive owned durmaxs and other trucks and this is handsdown the best truck Ive ever had.

we used to own dodges in the past (never a cummins though) and currently own a chevy 2500hd and a 3500 dump with L pack and 8' crysteel drop side dump

the 09 superduty is a dream for towing especially with the integrated brake controller which is seamless. i have the 172" wheelbase config and at 8500lbs along with my 5200lb deckover and 12000 worth of machine and attachments. the truck is heavy enough to not get thrown around by the trailer.

the HD on the other hand is too light, just carrying the deckover around empty you can tell it likes to toss the truck. now the HD tows the 24' enclosed mowing trailer daily and that weighs 4100 empty but b/c of the torsion axles its much smoother.

so what im trying to get at is if you want to tow heavy i like the superdutys b/c of their additional weight to control the trailer.

the 6.4 is a 350, isnt it?

What do you mean the power difference is noticeable between the 6.0 and the 6.4? The 6.4 has more power?

ProTouch Groundscapes

my 09 is a 6.4l F350 srw (crew cab long bed)

there is a slight fuel delay on take off on the 6.4, supposedly to save driveline wear (kind of annoying at times, 6gun will fix that) but once it gets past that the acceleration is so linear and powerful. the 6.0 is strong but i can tell a difference especially when towing something heavier and the 6.4 will not need to downshift on a grade, if you know the shift points and feel of the motor, i can in know when to dip into the throttle and how much to let off to keep a constant speed up a grade with a substantial load and the truck wont downshift whereas the 6.0 will lose a bit more speed.

dont get me wrong, our 2500hd has worked pretty much its entire life and has done so really well. i just feel like the superduty excels in some respects while the HD does in others. like turning radius etc...

I agree with poor mileage, ditch the dpf, get a spartan tune! 100k warranty is at risk though. Great truck.

I think its 25hp over the 6.0, not sure on tq. Doesn't sound like much but with the two turbo's the 6.4 has the power curve changes.

Just think of it back in 1983 the old 6.9 IDI debut it boasted 170hp and 335 ftlbs to the 6.4 that has double the torque output and double the horsepower.

Is there any 6.7s on the road yet I haven't seen any. Manufacturers are going to run out of engine to keep one upping each other in the power dept.

It will be curious with the new 6.7 trucks putting out that kind of power how long is the driveline going to last. The rear axle in a 3/4-1 ton truck is still light duty you can't go any heavier than a 11.5 ring gear axle or you are getting in to too much unsprung weight.

My dealer gave me a 6.7 to drive for the weekend . All I can say is wow ! Was more impressed with the truck its self than the motor. The new 6 speed is nice. Truck will even chirp second gear when in the manual trans mode. I wont buy one till they are out for a while and the put some cash back on them.

around here i have seen quite a few 11' superduties. the dealers are really stocking up on them and ive been looking through the diesel forums and listening to what the owners are saying about the trucks.

im hoping there are some great rebates on the 10' trucks as im looking for a 6.4L F550 c&c

I've got 50k + now on my 08. Not one problem. Had the recall for venturi t for the radiator and the reflash for the regen. That was it. I write down my fuel fill ups and the milage. Winter when I let it idle for 5-15 mins in the morning I get around 14mpg's. Now I see 15mpg. The computer is off from time to time. Some times it says 15.3 mpg. Hand calculated I get 14.8. Other times it say 15.1 and doing the math I get 15.9. All highway if driven under 80mph I get 18-19 mpgs. It's a job 3 350, cc, longbed, fx4 rollin 20's with 3.73's.
I almost bought a black one and kick myself from time to time. Thanks for showing the pics. Jerk:laugh: I like it, thats a nice lookin truck.
