I give up, I have been searching past posts for a thread I remember seeing that placed a monetary value on your website based on traffic to your site. It was in the last couple of months I thought but I just can't seem to find it anywhere. A little help from the techies please.

I believe it was here:

Also, there are a number of sites out there that "estimate."

Dnscoop.com will do the same

http://www.dnscoop.com/

but will also give you page rank, years of age, and inbound links. These "estimates" vary wildly and are basically useless. The other info, such as page rank, etc. are pretty useful, though.

Agreed, basically useless.

My site is valued at around $6000 on those kind of calculators, and as low as $111 on others.

Someone would have to hire a professional consultant to really estimate the value of a site based on several factors.

Those calculators don't even seem to take into account Google Adsense revenue. And probably can't. A calculator would have to spider each web page for the presence of ad codes and at least guesstimate a minimum revenue.

Also remember these "value" sites and calculators are not based on these type sites (contractors) They are based on "revenue generating" sites. Like this site, if they wanted to sell it would be very valuable because they have lots of traffic and mainly lots of advertisers (=income) Other such sites are everything from on-line stores to porn sites. People pay for the domain name and traaffic based on what they think the profit potential is.
That's what all these calculators of "worth" figure in. A contractor site is almost worthless unless you have a great domain name because it's built around YOUR business; so your traffic and page rank make little difference to a buyer in another market because those would be meaningless (your visitors would be finding a new contractor 1,000 miles away with different conmpany info on the site.
So a great domain name might bring several hundred dollars if it was really good and the buyer wanted it. Then the web site would be worth about what it costs to build one because that's what the buyer would be saving by taking your site and just replacing your company info with thiers.

The type sites people here have just don't have market value. Those calculators are for sites that produce income from sales or advertising THEN the visitor counts and page rank and such make a world of difference (like they would make this site far more valuable as is than if it had 1/2 as many participants and 2 or 3 advertisers.
