I am quite happy with my echo PB-602 backpack blower and my Stihl FS-80 trimmer. :)

And, I imagine that if I dropped my echo blower on my stihl trimmer from a height of 40 feet, I would probably do a lot of damage to both. :D

I use both, but I like Stihl alot more...they're easier to use, easier to work on, are made better, and last a lot longer...

Thanks guys I was leaning towards the Stihl, Only for the reason they were just a little cheaper, I was quoted 560 for the string trimmer and the 90* adjustable hedge clippers. The echo was 650. Do these sound ok??

Go with Stihl. You will not regret spending a little extra money for it.

This price of 560 included the FS 85RT split shaft, with trimmer attachment, and the 0 to 90 degree hedge clippers, the fs 85rt w/ trimmer was 349. and the hedge clippers were 200. The dealer said he might be able to do a little better, when I was ready to buy.

The best accessory I purchased was the edger attachment. I t takes up little room on the truck and I can install or remove it in 20 seconds.
I have the edger, power sythe, and 0-90-degree headge trimmer attachments. I hedge trimmer attachment is really only good for very tall hedges. It is so long for regular hedges you will need a dedicated hedge trimmer. I just bought the HS80 hedge trimmers, and they work great.

I bought a Stihl FS85 3 weeks ago.... Runs great.... $300.00

For 50.00 more I could have gotten the Split-Boom.....
BUT the FS85 will still take attachments... just that I have to unbolt the head to change....

I was quoted $210.00 for the ARTICULATING hedge trimmer attachment... Price was the same for same attachment for split-boom......

Looked at ECHO blower last week, then called Russo Power Equip. and ordered a REDMAX...... Echo wa kinda bulky.... I also like the Redmax "air conditioned" Back Pad..... (Some intake air draws from the spaces between your back and the pad)

Keep in mind that the FS85 has a SOLID steel drive shaft.... Does the echo????

Just my thoughts............

STIHL RULES, thats all I have to say about that. Although, I have my fathers Echo hand blower that was probally the first of it kind and works like a champ. I do take care of and don't let anyone touch it....in the lock vault...with no key... out in the midle of the woods... on an island...

Yah, just go with Stihl

I have a Stihl 4-mix engine and I love it. It's 4 cycle engine that runs on the same 50-1 gas mix.

Th noise level is great and the machine can run slower and not take the bark off the trees.

Something like that you mean? Both brands have their fans, and both sides are extremely loyal. They're both good stuff, pick whichever one whose dealer you like better. One thing I have noticed, some people seem to prefer the padded forward handle on the Echos.

I love Stihl ,we run all Stihl,I have used them all. Having said that. Echos are killer. If there were no such thing as Stihl ,I would have all Echo. Most other brands will work ,but Stihl and Echo are just WAAAYYY better than the rest.

I have never used Tanaka though, I looked at some today at the Kubota dealer and I wouldnt mind trying their stuff.

I've used both for 20 years now. both are good. stihl has a better chainsaw by far, and echo sems to have the better wed trimmer. I like the stihl handheld blower, and both backpack blower lines. stihl on hedge trimmers, but echo seems good and a bit lighter.

the fs 85 has not been made for the past two years if you bought one last week its been sitting for a long time.never heard of a fs 85 extreem.i wore out a 85 and replaced it with the 80 same as the 85 but the shaft.been selling the 4-mix like crazy and the 90's are the fast movers.you just cant go wrong with a stihl
