I bought a Procat 61 the other day and absolutely love it. It is more comfortable with the suspension seat than the 757 I had before. It is alot faster also. The cut quality is very good with a set of gator magnums. I thought John Deere was the ONLY brand before, but that has changed. I look forward to many years of service from my Bobcat. But the biggest thing was the price difference for what you get in return $7200. My 757 was $8200 without a suspension seat or any extras.

Mac,

I have been looking at the same mower (after evaluating Toro, Kubota, and JD) and have decided to buy one. The one I am looking at has a 26hp Kawasaki (not 25hp). It looks like you are getting yours for several hundred dollars less than what I have been quoted. Where did you buy yours? How many hours have you put on it?

Thanks

I have a 2010 procat 52 with the 26 kawi and it's a beast- the reason he has the 25 hp is because that is last years model- that is probably the difference in price. The new 2010's have the 22 hp instead of the 21 and they offer the 26 instead of the 25, any of these engines will do just great being the 09 or the 10 fx series!

That's good to know. I will probably pull the trigger on one next week. I'm purchasing a house on five acres (about 4 to 4 1/2 mowable yard) and hope the Bobcat does the job. I've never owned a zero turn and it's a big investment. Thanks for the input!

Hawkeye hit the nail on the head it is a '09 model. I have put about 3 hours on it so far and am very very satisfied. It is heavy duty from any angle you look at it and still cuts beautiful. I would buy another one today if something happened to this one. I will let you know with more hours on it but I can't see anything changing.

I almost forgot the good financing that Bobcat offers now as with some of the other manufacturers. I did not want to finance it all so I am going to have to pay a little intrest. But if you finance all of it I could have gotten 0% intrest.

Good info. I may take advantage of the 0%. I was also looking at a used FastCat 61. It is an 09 with 50 hours. I could pick it up for between $3500 and $4000. My concerns are the B & S Vanguard engine (don't know much about them) and the liklihood that the warranty is non-transferrable. I'm not sure what difference in quality there is in the FastCat vs. the ProCat. Saving 3K or 4K is great but I don't want to be kicking myself later.

My dealer got a Fastcat 61 in the day I went and it was a very smooth machine. But I went around and talked to the service manager and he told me that if I was going to keep the mower for a long time he would go with the Procat. The reason he said this was the pumps, not that the fastcats are bad, just not as heavy duty as the Procat.

hey guys nothing wrong with the fastcat but it is not a true commercial machine- the tires are narrower and if I am correct they dont have the individual pumps like the procat and the predator, not to mention the latter 2 have the full suspension seat unlike the fastcat- Bob-Cats rock! I am guessing the fastcat has a reservoir with some sort of a check valve instead of pumps and lines.

it used to not be a true commercial machine but I think they make a fastcat hd or a new and improved fastcat so I cannot say for sure if it's a commercial unit because I have not looked at the new fastcats only the old narrow ones!

I bought a new Procat this spring, with a 27hp Kohler. Traded it back on a Scag. here is my take on the mower.
Very nice machine
Cut and striped excellant in normal and dry grass
Had plenty of power
Good ride with sup. seat
Was 5000 cheaper than my TT
Why I traded it back to same dealer for a TC 25hp Kohler
Would not cut wet or damp grass as good as the Scag Velocity deck
Thought the controls needed stronger dampners to take some of the jerking out.
And it was slowing us down double cutting
It would not hold on a hill like my TT
Now the TC I traded for doesnt hold on a hill any better than the Procat
And if I didnt have to cut when it is not perfect conditions I would buy another.
In all it was a good mower for the money.
