View Full Version : Longer in the Summer?

Just wondering how many of you increase cutting height as you start to get into full-blown summer weather? We still have plenty of moisture at this point, but it is getting into the mid-90's every day, so I kicked most of my accounts up another 1/4 inch this week to about 4 inches.

we cut higher when it gets hotter out, then a bit lower come fall and cooler temps.

4'' wouldnt work around here. I've tried going 3.5" and up and they always call a day or so later and say its not short enough. Explaining to them its better to cut higher in the summer goes in deaf ears. I've been at 2.5" and starting to get to 2.75'' and 3'' point.

I used to do that, now I just keep the Wb's at 4" year round thou on the Z I still raise it in the summer,
that and I let the grass go a lot longer between cuts, 3-4 weeks is not at all unusual in this heat and when it's dry.

Is this your hobby topy? You start mid day to late afternoon, mow part time, and cut them every 3-4 weeks. How do you make any money worth justifying it?

i raise the blades when it gets hotter and dry

i'm pretty sure topy is just a pawn put here by the site owners, been done before where they create a character to stir the pot and get more clicks.
I'm up to 3.75" now and will go up to 4" next month than start bringing them back down to about 3.25" in the fall.

I'll go up about a quarter inch to 3.5 - 3.75. July and August I cut every other week unless it rains alot.
