Every time we're mowing down a hill the mower is leaving a mohawk all the way down the hill. It doesn't matter if it's big or small hill it still does it. I have no idea why. Anyone know why this is happening?

I'm a little confused... Are you mowing straight up and down or side to side?

try changing up the direction or slow down a little bit

Mine only does it when mowing tall grass at too fast of a speed. Try slowing down, and you may have to double-cut if it's tall.

Straight up and down and I'm only mowing in 1st gear because I thought I was going to too fast.

scrape your deck clean with a 2" paint scraper, and sharpen your blades.

I do this 2-3 times a week for superior results.

Maybe Im thinking of a different issue but my ztr leaves bad tire tracks (creating sort of a "mohawk" effect) whenever they slip even a little bit (both braking down the hill and trying to accelerate up it). It doesnt quite tear the grass out, but really mats it into the ground and looks like crap. This happens where its too steep for good traction for me so if that sounds like your problem I just have to find a different way to cut it with less slipping.

check your spacers on the blade bolts...i had this problem when i was 18 and first started out...sometimes dummys will put the spacers under the blade instead of on top of it which will cause mohawks....
