Top Soil

Hey,

I need some help here.

I am ripping out an old playground area and putting down topsoil so we can put plants and grass down. How thick do I spread top soil? And when I order it, does it go by the yard? I measured the area, and it came to 1,248 sq ft.

Im guessing charge hourly...it's my first time doing a job like this..

Most anyone should be doing it by the yard. If it were me, I'd try and till up the ground and mix in the the topsoil with all that too. I'd go as deep as I could till the ground. I'd say the original dirt is probably pretty crappy at this point. Final layer goes on top of all that.

Anyway, you'll want it about 3 inches deep of JUST the topsoil for the final layer.

ok, I live in south jersey, and the soil is like sand. should I rent a tiller? how much does it usually cost to rent them? are they easy to operate? I'm 15 and run somewhat of a landscaping buisness, and just had a few questoins on a job like this, because I never did a topsoil one before. thanks for the help
