Hey guys just wanted to post some pictures of the striper kit I made for my Bobcat Z. I had seen they made a roller kit for the deck but they want 350.00!! Ta hell with that so I built my own pretty much the exact same thing but better IMO. I tried the 3 inch pvc with sand, chains, conveyor belt on the back of the deck, and now this roller. I mowed my yard last night to test and wow I was impressed.

Its just a 2 inch solid round bar 36 inches long, it weighs right at 31 pounds. I welded two 3/8's bolts to the end of the round bar, then made two 7 inch long brackets for the side. The bobcat deck had two smaller holes already there so I drilled them to 3/8's and bolted it right on. I welded the two smaller 3/8's bolts to the deck as a stop so it can't fold under the deck, and when the deck it raised full height the roller is off the ground, for loading unloading etc. Anyways heres some pictures let me know what ya think. Thanks!

Just curious, but I have seen so many of these threads on here about stripers, I made one a long time ago, and mowed with it, and then mowed without it, the difference wasnt that noticeable, so I took it off for good, and dont use any now, Ive figured out that any commercial mower will stripe a yard pretty good by itself. Why are so many people bothering with them? Your striper looks good, but the mower by itself will produce essentially the same stripe.

Here we go again, yes any mower will stripe if you figure it out right, BUT a striper will give a sharper, more defined look in the right conditions. Stripes can be tricky though, much like women. Figure out how to lay them right once, and you should be able to do it every week no problem.

My question is if that bar is a roller, or if it is just dragging on the ground?

you need to sharpen your blades!

It is a roller. There are washers between the bottom bar and double nutted with a space in between so its not tight on the roller.

Mower stripes good as is but the roller really helps define the stripes. I also use hi lift baldes...and they are sharp lol

so no bearings? just rolling with metal on metal

the welded 3/8's bolts to the end of the roller go through the 1/4 flat stock. no bearings. i realize that the flat stock will wear the hole over time but a 7 inch piece of flat stock for 1.12 will make it brand new again when that happens. i thought about getting 2 inch ODM tubing then welding a bearing in there and shoving another rod through that but you lose most of the weight and i did this current setup for a total investment of 38.00.

whew long day. heres some stripes from the roller. they look better in person and i was actually standing on top of a steep bank about 40 feet. my phone does alright though. one mod I did make was changing the linkage from 7 inches to 7.5 inches so when I mow @4 it will roll still.
