Hi all, I'm going to look at a Kees 48" commercial walk behind mower tomorrow (pictures attached). I've personally never head of them, and already have a 60" Exmark Laser-Z hydro so don't know too much about the belt driven walk behinds.

Can anyone shed some insight into the quality of a Kees mower and what to look for when checking it out tomorrow when I take a look. Also any idea of a price range would be great, thanks in advance!!

I think this is the same. They look like well built mowers but I'd stick with the common names. I.E: SCAG, Exmark, JD etc.

Not sure how old that one is, but Kees mowers were very well built and had a good cut. My very first, new, commercial mower, purchased back in about 1990 or so, was a Kees, 36" commercial walkbehind. That mower mowed every season for about 10 years, without any major problems.
I don't think the Yazoo-Kees merger changed anything as far as their quality.

I have a yazoo kees tractor. Runs great. Had to replace a spring for the Handle bars and the spindle wheel bearings etc....but I do have a fertilizer spreader on it so it gets rusted out much faster than cutting.

Who owns yazoo kees now? How is parts availability?

Those front castors look pretty big for a fixed deck gear drive mower, usually they all come with 9" tires, but those look like the 11" on my full size WBs? they look like great mowers, and resembles a older metro in a way..well, maybe a little? I wonder why that peerless tranny is offset to the left side? I know that FC420 engine on there is a beast and is very reliable, and starts on the first pull even after 9 years on my metro!

Since October 1999 it has been owned by Sweden-based Husqvarna. Yazoo/Kees employs approximately 300 people and builds its commercial mowing equipment at a facility in Beatrice, Nebraska

Husqvarna / YK / Dixon picked up and left Beatrice late last year. Production moved to South Carolina, Engineering went to North Carolina.

I have a Kees 48" commercial walk behind mower, old, not sure of the age, had NO problems with it. The deck is well built. Solid rubber caster wheels, mows good, use it about every six wks to mow my yard. I think I paid $500 for it last year on Craigslist.
